This is pretty cool..... you can see the standing waves of resonance form on the springs. Because they used dual rate springs, and (I think) a secondary inner spring, the 'bounce' never goes out of the bungey..... The blurry regions of the springs move up and down the springs with variation in RPM; that means the resonance is not allowed to hit a max value and 'oil can' the spring to death.

Max RPM is around 3 minutes into the video. At that point there's a fog of oil being flicked off the components in the cut away head. The tappets and finger followers are moving so fast you can't see them moving anymore.

Notice that the valves and springs didn't start to rotate until the RPM's went up. So the next time somebody tells you that running high revs is bad for your engine, point them to this video and explain that you'll see better valve sealing and longer life by getting the engine into an RPM range where the valves rotate as they're supposed to.

By the way, piston rings rotate too. I'd love to see a video of that!

Here's a video showing what happens when it's not working right. They shot this using a strobe to slow down the motion, which is why the video flickers.
