bike parking charges in Westminster, London.

Oh well it was always too good to be true, Starting Aug 4th, it will cost you 1.50 to park in Soho Square or 150 pounds a year. This will soon be all over Westminster and just watch the price go up as well !!! I wonder how long it will be befoire we see bikers having to pay the C charge as well?

We're exempt from the C charge and increasing in numbers. They had to find some way of getting some money from us. B%^&*@<s

I'd be willing to bet that we'll be paying the C charge within 3 years. they'll find some way of making us pay it! If not then they can just up the parking charge to 5 pounds a day to compensate!!

They say that the parking charge is to pay off the 1000000 pounds that it's cost to put new parking bike bays in London. Does that mean that they'll stop charging when it's paid off? Yeah right!!!

Is this metered parking or do you folks pay for some form of sticker? Also, when I used to ride to the beach with friends we would put like 4 or 5 bikes in the same parking stall and only pay for 1. Does it work like that for you folks?

You pay by phoning or texting your location to some number and then your bike is registered for that day. The warden then only needs to check the database to make sure you've paid. No stickers or seperate bays are used. They've got us by the short and curlies !!!

Definitely not. It's the government running roughshod over the public yet again. I love the excuses to try and get bikes to pay. What about the offset created from less stress on the road infrastructure? If it were all bikes on the road, they could keep the same pavement for AGES compared to how often they need to resurface the roads now.

thats the first i have heard of this... i find it hard enough finding parking round soho square as it is since they closed a corner for road works... have often had to park as far as goodge street to find a spot.

I was spoiled at my last job - we had secure, underground parking. It was great. Not looking forward to having to fight for spots.
