Looking to upgrade my rear suspension and front forks. I keep reading about Ohlins rear suspension. Any other brands and what about front forks, something that does not require modification. I am a newbie so I help. Thanks.

Ohlin’s isn’t you only option, but it’s certainly the best. There are a number of other aftermarket rear shocks available, and yes, all are expensive. I modified a 2004 R6 shock that I bought on eBay. I had the valve stack rebuilt to change the stock compression and rebound movements to work without a linkage. I changed the R6 spring with an Eibach 14.5kg/mm spring.

There are a number of options to improve your front end. Most members swap out the FZ6 front forks for R6 forks. Depending on how much ingenuity you have, you can fit about anything.

The quickest, cheapest option will probably be Race Tech springs, internals and new oil.

Do a quick Search. There is a number of posts on suspension.
