Bar end mirrors...what do you think?

Ok, i went and bought some nice little Bar end mirrors for my old Ducati Pantah, which i have just started to restore to it's former glory....but when i got them home, i thought i would throw them on the FZ6 just to see how they look and work....practically they are great...totally unhindered vision from both mirrors, just dont know whether they look better than the mirrors i already had on the bike????

What does everyone else think?

My opinion, the bar ends take away from the sexy lines of your bike.

Both are nice, but I personally would avoid the end mirrors. Squeeezing through traffic, the narrower your bike the better.

Good point, but they only add on 4cm, or lees than 2inch's at each end of the bars....will have to go for a ride in traffic with them on....can see so much more in them though....

I only would use folding bar end mirrors. I have a single l/s hindsight CRG I love. The folding feature has definitely come in handy when 'extra-legally' splitting

I had that exact same thought ,but only because I have hit mirrors with my arms before,cost me a bit of money when I broke a mirror on a Landrover

Basing on looks alone...keep the older mirrors. With safety ALWAYS being first, if you find that the bar ends give you better visibility and they don't hinder your ride at all...seems like a slam dunk to me.:thumbup:

Looks like I'm the odd one out...lol... I reckon they look OK and I actually had nice mirrors on my XS that worked unhindered and I've got to say if they look half decent and give you good vis then stick with them:cheer:. The amount of times I've had to brake hard and couldn't see what was going on behind me with the FZ standard mirrors is just too high to mention:spank:....makes me very nervous.

If you've only got 4cm either side of your bike while splitting I'd think twice about going through myself so it shouldn't affect you too much...not in Adelaide, although I can think of a few roads in Sydney that'd give you some trouble:spank:....used to stradle the lane in my Val...lol.

How about the try them out for a while option:thumbup:.....you already have them both....if they give you trouble, swap back:thumbup:.

Hey Wolfman, I think the bar end mirrors complement the gauge cluster having the same shape and all. It adds a nice symmetry to the front of the bike IMHO.:thumbup:

Well i have had them on for 24 hours now, have got to like the look, and love the extra rearwards vision.....am thinking they are staying for the moment.

Thanks for all the input so far....I tink that i should post photo's of the whole bike with them on, you get a better look at them in context with the rest of the bike....will do that tomorrow, when it's not 2.30am in the morning....

that mirror looks fantastic, looking forward to seeing photos of them on your bike.

Alright, my first opinion was biased a wee bit. I really like those foldable ones, they look hot. Though round isn't my style, i like the better visibility. Wonder if something like a ducati multistrada style are available.

I say keep the stems , im not real keen in the idea of mirrors on the bar ends as it makes them a lot easier to be broken by passing cagers or bikes in the twisties/traffic....... Imagine having 1 clipped and being showered with glass

True enough, but am guessing that wearing full gear, and always riding with full gear should protect you from such an unlucky occurence.

As for bikes in the Twisties...if they are getting close enough that they running into my mirrors, i dont wanna be riding with that guy!!!

I suppose i like the bar ends cause i have always had them on my other bikes, never had one knocked, or broken yet.....just rusted out, scratched, and loosening beyond tightening due to age...

Also, have been having strss lately with my stem mirrors coming loose at high speed....might be time for a bit of loctite, i suppose, whicheve mirrors i decide to keep.

Forgot to say that the Bar end mirrors are convex, so field of rearward vision is huge, even if a little distorted.
