Well Facebook gave me a reminder this morning that I'm going to the Assen TT tomorrow, as if I'd forget

Looking forward to it, I went with the kids last year (kids under 15 are free on the grass banks) but unfortunately they both have some pretty heavy end of school year exams this coming week so they didn't have time. I'm going with a mate of mine on our bikes  it's about 2 and a half hour ride but I know it'll be worth it

Watched qualifying today...in Spanish.No I don't understand Spanish but that's another story.

Won't give up who is on pole but should be a good race.

It was a really weird weather day, we had great weather riding there and afterwards we took a long scenic route back home as the sun was shining afterwards as well. but when it did rain...

Congrats to Jack Miller[emoji1037][emoji943][emoji1037][emoji943][emoji1037][emoji943][emoji1037][emoji943][emoji1037]

Great result, really pleased for the guy :cheer:

Went to the TT yesterday and had a great day (dispite the rain during the rain).
Met a mate of mine in Den Oever and we rode to Assen over the afsluitdijk. We went to the rear entrance as this was closer to where we wanted to be. Anyway parking is free but it's all in fields so we had to make sure that our stands wouldn't sink in the ground. Luckily we found an old can which my mate used (I had taken my own plastic "stand holder").

We sat at Mandeveen (top of map), the place where Rossi overtook Marquez last year :)

Well the weather had been pretty good uptil now.

We got settled just before the Moto 3 race started. The weather was fine for this race. During the Moto 2 race, which had been declared a "dry" race the rain arrived  Anyway the race got stopped with the current positions counting as the result.

The Moto GP race was declared a "wet" race but started as normal. It was really slippery, and several people crashed out. Lorenzo was extra careful after a crash he had during practice and was quite far behind. Yes it was wet (the rain was coming down quite hard by now), but when a couple more people crashed out the race organisors decided it was too dangerous to race on, so they stopped the race. They waited a while until it got dry again and then restarted the race, for a while it was unclear as to what was going to happen. Riders were lined up on the grid in order of position (when the race was stopped), which I thought was unfair as there had been quite some distance between some of the riders, but this was not accounted for.
Anyway off they went again. Well although the track officials had been sweeping away the surface water it was still really wet out there which resulted in a lot of people sliding out, among others Rossi, who slid off in front of our noses. Rossi tried together with the track officials to get the bike working again but to no avail. After that he was taken back to the pits on the back of one of the track officials bikes (see photo).

Well after the race we stayed to watch the red bull/KTM championships race, and then we went back to our bikes. As the weather was now sunny we decided to head to Lemmer via the backroads. After having a meal here we went to Stavoren, and then directly home.

Here are a couple of my better pics :

It was a chaotic race but with plenty of exitement but I'm not sure if the qualification positions really had much effect on the end result. But it was a good result for Jack Miller though

Thanks for the pictures, nothing like being at the race. What a crash fest, amazing how fast the track dries out when the rain stops.

3 crazy races, my fellow countryman Brad Binder was very lucky not to crash in Moto3 but still increased his lead in the championship despite losing the only 100% podium record across all classes this year.

Moto2 was tense towards the end, good of race direction to stop it before the crashing started.

MotoGP was just nuts, in the teeming rain there were, what, 2 crashers? Then after the break and restart they fell like flies?

I still don't rate Jack Miller and I am scratching my head why he has a ride at all.

Looking forward to my turn at Misano

Great pics! I am so jealous. We use to ride down to Laguna Seca in California when MotoGP raced there. Unfortunately, no Moto2 or Moto3. I'd really like to see those races in person sometime. I'm working on my hubby to go to COTA next year. We will see... Nothing like being there in person. Maybe we will make it to Assen some year.
