I'm going to install the rack for the Givi top case. I bought the rack used so the only part missing is the one that would have been used up---adhesive protection strip. Since it goes over the exhaust on the side, what product can I buy to do the same thing? What does Givi use for "adhesive protection strip?"

I used heat tape from the auto parts store. Then I took weather stripping and wrapped it in the tape. Should do the trick.

A couple of layers of aluminum foil folded over (and taped over a couple of layers) as well as the above listed heat tape or the SILVERY, thin, actual A/C duct tape should do it..

If you have any header wrap material, that and tape is even better....

You're referring to item 9, right?

It might not really be used up, it would probably still be attached to the curvy brackets that surround the plastic exhaust shield. It's just a ~1" wide strip of adhesive backed foam, maybe 1/8" or 3/32" thick. It's not high heat or anything, since it's not touching the exhaust, only the silver colored plastic piece. It just keeps that plastic piece from getting scratched by the bracket - you might not need to worry about it.
