Well this could have ended a lot worse. :spank:
I have never tried starting my bike by popping it into gear while rolling but this morning I did it on accident and it could have caused me to crash the bike!
Here's the scenario...
Wife works nights so she sleeps in.
I was leaving the house for work. I normally roll the bike out of the garage and coast it down the driveway in neutral, wait to start it up at the end of the driveway to avoid waking the wife.
Well, I didn't realize that I had turned the key to "On" before mounting the bike and that the kill switch was in the run position...
As I'm coasting down the hill in neutral at about 10mph I stand up on the pegs to stretch my legs out and accidentally bumped the shifter into second...BOOM! The bike comes to life with a roar and I had just a little throttle as I was stretching...Almost dumped it in the road!
I quickly got on the clutch and brakes at the last second before slamming into the mailbox!

So, lesson learned. Yes, you can start the bike by coasting in Neutral and slamming the shifter into gear, no clutch needed.
