Well it looks like your question has been answered but it can also depend on conditions and what your doing with the bike. Running hot in the desert it's okay to run 91 as a little insurance.
I've used only 87 and 93 octane; I like 93 octane much better.
I found with 87 it will ping if i am in too high of a gear while under acceleration. (hate that). I know that is user error for sure but can't stand to hear that pinging noise if only on rare occasion. The cost differerence for a 3.5 gallon fillup is approx .70 us cents. I will stick with premium gas from now on.
I have never filled the bike with anything except the premium (93 or 91 if they dont have 93) and i have never had any issues with the bike. i know people that have told me to just use 87, but eh.. whats 2-3$ extra for a tank.. worth it imo, but im sure it would run just as fine on 87..
