2009 XJ6N & XJ6S...Review & Photo's from the World Press Launch in Australia.

Hey people, just found out today, that Yamaha have just done the Worldwide Press Launch for the 2009 R1 & XJ6N - XJ6S Diversion...So i searched for some info , or photo's, this is what i found!

From what i have read today, it is being "touted" as the replacement for the current FZ6N & S....but am i right to think that the fz6 will continue to be sold alongside this bike?

I bet someone at yamaha was thinking "Hey, we've got a bunch of these 2 pot early fz6 brake calipers and nothing to do with them, I got an idea, let's build a new bike around them and make it lackluster in every aspect!"

And that's how the FZ6R/XJ6 was born.

And that's how the FZ6R/XJ6 was born.

Pretty much sums up what I was thinking! It seems like Yamaha decided to take a couple steps backward with these two bikes. Seems kinda pointless to dilute the performance of the FZ6 from nearly 100 hp down to 76 hp.

I saw a faired one yesterday at the Brussels Motor Show, it was standing right next to the FZ6 Fazer. I have to say it looks better, tougher, more badass, heavier too. We agree that it's no match for the FZ6 in every other aspect, but as far as looks go, I love it.

The XJ6N is now for sale at my local dealer. I asked them if this bike is supposed to take over for the FZ6, but that isn't the case. The XJ6 is yet another entry bike that's cheaper than the FZ. Besides, the motor isn't the same as the R6 based FZ motor, which means cheaper components etc.

I like the stance of it, though. The tail section is shorter than the FZ's and it got the sub cowling as standard

I'm pretty sure I saw a yellow full faired FZ6R the other day, I almost thought it was a new gixxer because of the headlight. It looked pretty "gay" to say the least.

LOL i just bought the XJ6N...waiting on delivery and a run around till i get my licence. I love the look of it, im a old school naked gurl myself im not into bikes with fairings. The XJ6N damn near made me wet my pants, had to grab it before i could ride it in fear it would be discontinued!!
