Thought you might want to see what they are saying about our newest sibling

Hey gang, thought I’d post the highlights to an article compairing Our FZ6R-600 with the Suzuki Gladius 650 , and the Kawasaki 650 ER-6n. The Article was in this months (August 2009) Mototcycle Consumer News.
They start off talking oubt each separate bike “The new FZ6R engine is retuned for smoothness and driveability and in’t brakes are a simpler design, it's handling is lighter and its suspension is new, but it now make considerable less power. The MSRP of the basic black FZR6 is $6900 ($300 less than the 09 FZ6)
Engine & Performance: Tie for 1st
Yamaha’s engineers did the unthinkable when they revised the FZ6’s for FZ6R duty, They clipped 20 HP off its peak power –down from 85.6 to 65.4 hp!
The dyno reveals that FZ6R’s rev limiter now calls a halt to the proceedings at 11,200 vs 13,300 rpms on the FZ6.
Chassis & Suspension: 1st
It’s weight has been increased by 12.5 lbs (478 to 464)
The FZ6R has ben give 1/0degrees more rake presumable for greater stability although the wheelbase remains unchanged.
“However the FZ6R’s suspension is amazing . It smothers the low-speed movements caused by minor pavement irregularitites and stays planted over bigger bumps giving a plush compliant ride. It’s ride in not pillowy and numb either, but gives reassuring feedback that make pushing the bikes performance envelope a pleasure.”
Tires Brakes and Wheels: tie for 1st
Yamaha is riding on the new Roadsmart rubber/.
All the bikes use a pair of two-piston, single-action sliding calipers covering floatingdiscs in front and a simple single piston sliding caliper in the back.
Our performance testing gave very impressive results, with all 60 mph stops in well under 117’ and a best of 113’—remarkable for motorcycles of ANY price.
Handling: 1st
“Over the road, it provides excellent stability, a comfortable ride and a confidence inspiring turning ability and had no objection to tightening a cornering line when requested—what more could you ask?”
Ergonomics: 1st
“Yamaaha had done its homework—comfortable control layout and best seat in the house with real adjustability—20mm forward and back with seat height 20 mm up or down

About the only gripe is that it dowsn’t come with self cancelling turn signals
Overall: 1st
The Yamaha doesn’t dazzle on paper with the more power, lightest weight, or other obvious advantage, but it’s strengths sneak up on you

Once agin this is from Morotcycle Consumer News. August 2009. If you don’t get it , it is a very objective source of info, since they do not accept advertising monies.
