1st gear stalls

So how long have you been riding and how often do you stall at a first gear roll off.

At first it was quite often but I still do it every now and then. Now it's when I get caught off guard and I have cars waiting behind me.

with exception to the bike problems I've been having, I haven't stalled a bike in who knows how long.

I cannot remember the last time I stalled either.

Plenty of gas and slow with the clutch always works for me.

I did it when first learning to ride, but not anymore. If I ride without my gloves, I stall sometimes... just because it is an entirely different feel with bare hands.

I hate it when you're cruising along and come to a stop sign, and although the other guy got there first they wave you through. So you're like, alright cool, this guy's being nice, and as you try to take off you kill it. Then you're sitting there with a dead bike and some nice old man is waiting for you to go.

I hadn't been on a bike for around 8 years when I got my FZ6 last month, and stalled a handful of times. Well, maybe two handfuls...

Hahaha... I even scrwed up shifting gears for a little while, but then, the Yamaha wants to shift a certain way or it gets grumpy. Got it now.

Stalling sucked.

When new I stalled a couple of times. Took me sometime to get used to the short stroke clutch. (Although I stalled it three times yesterday when I forgot the side stand. Good the safety contactbreaker works)But now it works fine for me.

i have this problem too. how do you guys take off from a stop on an incline? do you roll the throttle a little bit and then let the clutch out gradually? i have just been letting the clutch out and not touching the throttle (maybe a little bit), and waiting for the bike to get rolling enough to give it gas. granted, i am new on this thing, as is the bike. have 500 miles on it so far.

First off, where is the rest of this thread? I can't see the original post.
Second, adjust your idle speed to 1250 RPM. This will sort the problem right out.

Use the foot brake to hold the bike in place while rolling on/releasing the clutch. When you feel that you've got enough friction on the clutch to move the bike up the hill you can let go of the brake.

didnt think of that. 1250 is where it should be? so does that mean that i shouldnt have to roll on the throttle when taking off before releasing the clutch?

No Mate, you still need to open the throttle but not as much for a smooth pull off. I hadn't stalled in years until I rode the FZ6. I thought that I had got really rusty lol. Changing the RPM's made a huge difference to my pulling off. My bike had dropped down to 850-900 rpm.

Idle should be 1250-1350 rpm.:rockon:

The road loves all those nobbly bits on your hands when you fall off....ask me how I know !!!!!!!

Don`t ride without gloves it really is not worth it.

Ok after the last post on this kind on this subject it got me thinking why I was also having problems when I jumped on the fazer from my gsxr

What I have found is that the clutch lever is catching the second part of my fingers giving me crap control of the lever movement. I found that moving my hand outward on the bars so that the lever was further away and it catches the end of my fingers gives u more control

I also found this when I was fitting pazzo's to my gixxer and although having the lever adjusted closer it gave me less control so I moved them outward on the adjustment

FIX: move the clutch lever along the bar a little so ur hand is in the middle of the grip when the last section of ur fingers catches lever

U can try this urself to see if this helps ur problem by just moving ur hand further out on the grip, then move the lever if it helps

or go by pazzo levers and set them up correctly

another problem with stalling can be thick gloves, if the leather on the fingers is too thick it may give u less control

I start off 1st at 2k rpm and works just nice!!!
