12 guage + helmet=fun!

well i got a new helmet and took a 12 guage to my shoei so heres the pic(my sholder hurts!!!phone pics sorry)

I guess you could have donated it to your local MSF location instead of destroying it. But hey, it's your helmet... do what you like.

Make sure you completely destroy that helmet now to ensure that someone is not able to wear it. Smash it to pieces with a hammer, or cut it with a saw to render it totally in-operable.

the inside fell out totaly and it wouldnt realy help if you wrecked there was nothing left the sheild was cracked it was 18 years old it was done for no helping it so we had fun!!

If you are going to discard a helmet, it's a good idea to destroy it so other people don't try using it. I call those kinds of helmets bombshells.

My first helmet was a bombshell helmet.

cool. Always neat to see what kind of forces something will withstand. That's engineering speak for "blowing crap up". lol. A 12 ga is quite a blast, and it looks like it took it fairly well.

Judging from the minimal shot penetration, and no missing chunks of foam, I'm betting it was a 2.75" Game load. 1 or 1 1/8 ounce load of fairly small shot. Probably #8 or #9 size shot pellets.


I have some #4 Turkey loads that would have totally trashed that helmet.

12 guage hunting shells and we were 60feet or so( not sure on shells and types )
