Anyone ever have a tank slapper?

I had a violent tank slapper on my KLR650. I was about 75kms out of Goose Bay on the Labrador Highway. Crashed the bike and separated my shoulder. Don't want to do that again! I have a Scotts damper on my V-Strom but never felt that the FZ6 needed one.

    FZ6 gets no love

If BMW made the FZ6 people would be drooling all over it. Of course it would not be nearly as dependable and would cost 50% more. Maintenance cost would be significant and your nearest dealer would be at least 3 hours away:Flash: Thank goodness Yamaha made this gem of a bike. Good for us.

Sprocket down in front or up in back?

Front sprocket is a lot cheaper than the rear. I went -1 on the front and it changed the bike dramatically - a great improvement from the stock gearing. Try the -1 route first, if you don't like it for some reason you're not out much money and if you want even lower gearing go up a tooth or two...

    Looking for seat advice

Take your seat to an upholstery shop and have them build it up and recover. I got mine done at an Apple Glass shop here in Nova Scotia; they did a great job and only cost me $150 - a lot cheaper than a new seat. I'm very pleased with the seat. Suggest you get lower pegs - Buell Lighting...

    Is The FZ6 That Powerful?

Can't say whether or not you would miss the FZ6 if you got a larger sport touring bike. I've owned a few BMW's, a K100RT, a K75T, and a R1100RS and I can that without a doubt that I prefer the FZ6. I really like the light weight, handling, comfort, and the power of the FZ6. It's not hard to...

    Motorcycle Friendship

Thanks for this inspiring video. I posted it my local club's web site. We have several members in their late 70's and early 80's who are still riding, and some of these guys still do a lot of touring and still pitch their tents.

Is the FZ6 the best bike you have owned, ridden???

Don't believe there is such a thing as a best motorcycle...but without a doubt the FZ6 is one of the best I've ever owned or rode. An exceptional motorcycle, comfortable enough for a multi day tour and a whole lot a fun on a Sunday ride...and cheap. I love it. So I'll vote best.

SS brake line upgrade Vs original lines

I've installed braided lines on my FZ6. Not sure if I can stop any quicker but the braided lines feel rock hard and a lot less pressure is required on the brake lever. I feel much more confident with braided lines installed. Definitely recommend it. Haven't been as impressed with the...

What's the one, single part on your bike you love the most?

The Buell Lightling foot pegs. In stock form the FZ6 is acceptably comfortable but the lowered pegs makes it even more so. Replacing the strange bend of the stock handlebars with the FZ1 bar is a close second for me.

    09 BMW f st800?

I've ridden and seriously considered the F800ST but I was able to buy a year old FZ6 in showroom condition for $7000cdn less than a new F800ST would cost me. With that $7000 I was able to add a 650 V-Strom ABS to my garage. The F800ST is a nice bike: good brakes; handles well; decent power...

    FZ6 VS Vstrom DL650

I'm the proud owner of an 07 FZ6 and an 08 650 V-Strom. Although the 650 V-Strom is more comfortable, the FZ6 is certainly comfy enough for a week long tour. The V-Strom has adequate power and handles nicely but it's not in the same league as the FZ6. The FZ6 has close to 30 more horsepower...
