Great thread! So now that you're done, how much brighter would you say these are compared to the stock lights?

Would it be possible to fit the Givi sidecases when using a non-givi rack? I have no idea how these are attached to the bike in the first place.

That's a nice way to go unless you happen to live in Sweden in which case the shipping alone would cost a fortune

I've actually read them several times and I like the idea of doing such things myself. Unfortunately I don't have neither the time nor the right tools/skills to perform any such modifications right now.

When will Yamaha start replacing the halogen lights with HIDs and projectors like they did with the R1 back in 2004? Would spare us a lot of retrofitting. I suppose it would make the bike a bit more expensive but I can't think of any other disadvantages.

Is it not possible to fit OEM projectors without removing the reflectors? Another thing I've been wondering is if you can make both lights into low/high beam or if they both have separate functions?

I was wondering, what's the difference between this way of doing it and makanouchi's approach? To me this seems a lot easier since you don't have to take out the reflectors and make your own attachment plates. Other pros and cons?

How come these aren't standard on this bike? As far as I can tell a lot of people use a GPS or other accessories that require this mod. Personally I don't know anything about electrical wiring and having someone else do it for you might be a bit pricey.
