    Headphones/Earplugs

I've got Shure SE215s and use them with foam tips (the Shure "olives"). It uses the same kind of over-the-ear "memory wire" mechanism that the MEElectronics earbuds use. It has no problems staying put underneath my Arai Profile. I've found that the foam tips provide a nice seal against wind...

No gear, no helmet, no anything...lucky indeed.

    SEARCHING for a streetfighter kit

RonAyers has OEM parts, and so does BikeBandit I believe...but as far as aftermarket stuff, there's not a ton out there (at least not as much as there is for other "true" sportbikes, e.g. R6/1, CBRs, Ninja whatever).

    Quick question about chains.....

The new chain should come with a master link. You might want to get an extra one or two anyway just in case you screw up the rivet on the first try...ask me how I know. As for the front sprocket - I think it's either a 30 or 32 depending on the year (32 on the earlier models, 30 on the later...

Bag and contents smell like exhaust - better backpack selection?

It's a manly smell. =) But seriously, +1 on a reasonably sized tank bag, maybe something like the Icon Urban (which can convert to a Backpack I believe) might do the trick.

Tools/ Tips for Fork Seal Replacement?

Just did this about two weeks ago. Using a broom handle in lieu of the damper rod holder (as suggested elsewhere on the forum), then using an impact wrench to get the bolt out from the bottom worked for me. Did the same when reassembling (torque wrench rather than impact wrench though). It helps...

    Sprocket/Chain Change...Help me decide

Someone put together a spreadsheet looking at how the gearing should affect speed and RPM. Maybe playing with that some will help you with the decision: http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-mods/25979-15-t-sprocket-2.html#post274053 I went with -1/+1 (JT sprocket) and a 520 setup (RK) and am...

    Headlight?

That looks like wavex's old bike. See the second post in this thread: http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-streetfighter/4416-streetfighter-v3-0-a.html

for those who have done the steering head bearings...(help!)

I see what you mean looking at the second picture. I never touched those frame bolts...ever...so if the frame isn't fully together, that's kind of alarming. I found this picture from sportrider magazine showing the FZ6 frame. From that, it looks there's a small space between the two halves of...

for those who have done the steering head bearings...(help!)

Thanks everyone. Sorry about the link - it was supposed to go to the BikeBandits parts fiche showing the steering stem adjuster nuts, but I think everyone gets what I'm talking about without the picture. I didn't play with the frame bolts at all - I used a hammer and rod to pop the old outer...

for those who have done the steering head bearings...(help!)

It was actually quite some time ago that I drove the outer races into the frame (end of last season)...I'm pretty sure I used the old races to tap them in place. They seemed to be seated properly, but I'll double check and verify that they're drawn in evenly on all sides and sitting flush where...

for those who have done the steering head bearings...(help!)

I'm in the process of putting everything back together after swapping out my stock steering head bearings with the AllBalls tapered bearings. After putting the locknuts (parts 4, 5, and 6 on THIS diagram) back on the top of the steering stem prior to putting on the triple, it looks like the...

    Missing rear wheel alignment nuts/parts...?

Same thing happened to me shortly after I got my bike - the locknut probably vibrated loose and the whole piece came out while you were riding somewhere. This happened to me while on a long interstate ride. At a service station, I noticed that entire piece was missing; there was nothing I could...

Glad you're OK. Do have to say - that's a really neat headlight fairing.

FZ6N with Bi-Xenon mod on stock headlight

I was looking at that same one for my FZ16 headlight - I have a friend who seems to think it will fit. I haven't figured out the depth of the headlight, and my bike is not with me right now that I can go figure it out. (Garaged at my parents' place because I'm in the process of replacing the...

    Pants off dance off...

You should probably consider separate knee armor that straps directly to your leg...from what I've seen in my overpants and have read about others, any included knee armor might fall at a weird spot on your leg, or move around during a crash and wind up doing nothing for you. I have Joe...

    Adjusting clutch/brake lever height (rotation)

Yes, it's the hex screws for the brake side, and I think a small bolt for the clutch side (I have an 05, but it's probably the same for the other years). I do remember the brake hex nuts being a bit tight - but they should loosen pretty easily.

Front Sprocket Replacement - Need New Lock Washer?

I replaced it. Ordered it from Ron Ayers with a few other parts I needed at the time anyway. I also used Loctite when installing the sprocket to hopefully prevent the nut from coming loose.

    What's ur favorite online store & Y ?

Ron Ayers for OEM parts - usually a very quick turnaround. Motorcyclegear.com (formerly NewEnough) or Motorcycle-superstore.com for everything else. There was a thread about this recently on SBN - sportbiketrackgear.com was a big favorite over there.

Vibrating handlebar blues and a much needed fix...

I used silicone caulk on my LSL bars...it helped a little. Heavier bar ends helped much more. (Although it seems like you're using HVMP bar ends, so there isn't much out there that is heavier) The silicone caulk was a mess, and when I got new bar ends, I had to sit and scrape that stuff out...
