    RG Discontinued FZ6 Swingarm Protector

Hey, Do you know what's the reason for RG Racing (Welcome to R&G Racing | Setting the standard in bolt-on motorcycle accessories and Crash Protectors) to discontinue the FZ6 Swingarm protector (the part number used to be SS0012BK)? I got one several months ago and it got stolen and now I see...

    Silencers external temperature

Hi guys, Any ideas what's the min/max external temperature of an FZ6's silencer? I've got stainless Scorpion exhausts and one of the badges that are glued on them has started to slightly come out. I'd like to glue it back but don't know what's the temp the glue has to cope with. Thanks :)

Racing brake pads could be dangerous?

Anyone knows the technical reason for racing brake pads being dangerous when riding in town? I've been told so about Carbone Lorraine racing pads by a local dealer but he could not explain why this is so. Thanks :)

Theory behind the need of PCIII for race exhausts

Hi, I know that if you put on race/aftermarket exhausts you eventually need a fuel remap/PCIII in order to get the appropriate fuel/air mixture in the engine. Do you know why this is so? Using a sporty air filter like K&N makes more sense because more air enters the combustion chambers but what...

    Valvoline Multi Purpose Grease

Hi all, I just read in the FZ6 Fazer S2 (2007) service manual that some parts need to be greased with Lithium Soap grease. I bought Valvoline Multi Purpose Grease (red color). Have you used this one? If not, what grease do you use? Thank you :)!

    Buying a bike from UK

Hi guys, I'll buy a UK used bike on eBay, I'll get it from the buyer and immediately start a journey through western Europe. For this to happen I need to get temporary license plates I guess. Do you have any idea what's the low - what plates do I need, how/where I could get them from? Any...

    HEL Brake Lines

I just mounted a set of new steel brake lines by HEL. As with most other brake lines upgrades the front hoses go from the calipers straight to the master cylinder. Do you have any photoes or guidelines for correct routing of the new lines? So far I'm pretty satisfied with following the route...

    Engine corrosion in modern bikes

Happy New Year, riders! :) Do you know which internal engine parts in a modern engine (i.e. bikes from the last couple years) are prone to corrosion? I got interested after reading a lot of stuff regarding preparing a bike for long storage (i.e. for the winter). I also wrote to Sport Bike...

    Radiator Fins

Hey :) I accidentally slightly bent 2-3 of the radiator's fins on my bike while trying to detach the radiator (I've attached a sample image from the Internet just to show what I mean by "fins"). As far as I understand these fins are not full of water and it should not be critical if you bent...

    Wrong Oil filter?

Today I bought an original oil filter from the local Yamaha dealer. They sold me part #5GH-13440-00 and told me this filter is used for a large number of Yamaha-s and not to worry that my model/year is not listed on the filter's box. However, when I got home I checked with Yamaha's online parts...

Fresh oil up to the cap (winterize)

Hi, I tried searching to see if there's an answer to this question but I couldn't find one. I'm interested if it's necessary to fill the bike with fresh oil and fill it up to the oil cap in order to winterize it properly. I read this in a Suzuki SV650 manual. Thanks :)

    Putting oil in the cylinders

The manual says that one should put a teaspoonful of oil in each of the cylinders and move the rear tyre while in 5-6 gear to distribute the oil over the cylinder walls and valves. Do you know of any drawback of this "manipulation" after you take the bike out of storage? I wonder how this oil...

    HEL Brake Hoses

I just got an e-mail from the HEL dealer here and he told me that the full kit for my '07 FZ6 Fazer S2 includes: 2 full length front hoses and 1 rear hose. I guess there's an error in his info because the bike originally has: 1 full length + 1 short brake hose in the front. What do you think...

    K&N Air Filter

I read some posts regarding the K&N air filters which confirm that these filters allow more air to get through compared to the stock filters. I'm interested whether the fuel injection will be able to process the higher air flow correctly or I'll definitely need to buy a Power Commander. I've got...

Side effects after riding in the rain

Last Sunday my Fazer stayed in the rain for 3h and afterwards I had to ride it in the rain for 200km. After this it spent the night in the garage at home and the other day there was a little side effect of the big shower the bike had taken. The starter button on the right handlebar had become...

    Checking oil level

Hi, For some time now I've been trying to determine the correct way to check my FZ6's oil. According to the manual I should warm up the engine, then stop it and let the oil settle for a few minutes and then check the level. However, I've noticed that when I check it in 5, 10 and 15 minutes...

    How to warm up tyres

How do you warm up your tyres - on the street and on the track? BTW yesterday I found an article on the Internet with some tests which prove there's no point in making twisties in order to better/faster warm up your tires.

Upshifting from 1st to 2nd gear

I've got my S2 for about 3 months now and I'm still getting used to smooth shifting. I learned to blip the throttle to smooth downshifting and to operate quickly with the clutch lever/throttle/shift lever in order to get better upshifts. However, I still can't get 1st to 2nd gear upshift to go...

    Chain tensioning

Hey Riders, AFAIK I have to measure the chain tension at the spot that's in the middle of the chain horizontally. I measure the slack between the lowest and the highest points of the chain at that particular middle spot. The lowest point is easy to find but the highest one - it seems to be...
