Just a quick update... Dealer let me take the bike home while he waits for the tps. He had mentioned that overfilling the oil can do this, and indeed, it was overfilled. After making a mess in the garage, it's now filled perfectly. If this was part of the problem, it will need to be burnt off...

Apparently the TPS part has been superceded 3-4 times. He thought I may be on the second revision. Mines an 04 though... Idk what yours would be at. And yeah, most of the time the bike is fine, it's just from low in the rpms where it gets sluggish. WOT to red line it pulls great. Just slow on...

I just spoke with the dealer and he's ordered a tps. He said he's had them test fine and still be faulty. Last thing would be carbon build up due to overfilling the oil. Sent from my Droid Turbo.

Checked the TPS... Everything was fine there. If it's fuel related, I don't really want to mess with it too much. I think my local Yamaha dealer is a pretty good and reasonable place, so when I was picking up the bolts I ran the situation by them... I showed it to them and he asks if it has any...

It sounds like I have a great starting point here, thank you everyone! It looks like I'll be changing the plugs and have some additives to try. As an aside, it doesn't throw black smoke and it feels like it's just running dry.. Leaning out sounds exactly right. I'll report back with my findings...
