I'm interested in the whole setup, if you still have it. I'll send you a pm.
Also, what type of bar ends does the FZ1 use? Are they the same as the FZ6?
The bike does shake when braking but I know it also needs the steering bearing replaced so I'm not sure about the front wheel bearing. Is there a way to check that while stopped?

Brake fluid was flushed last summer when I got the spark plugs and air filter replaced.
I've had the bike since about 43,000 miles and its now around 73,000 miles so I have no idea if the throttle bodies were ever done but I know I haven't done them. Is it something that I can do myself?
Howdy guys,
I've been riding for about 2 years now and had my FZ6 for 1.5 years and about 30,000 miles. Most of what I have learned about riding and maintaining my bike was from a friend's dad who also rode. He taught me about lubing, cleaning and replacing the chain and sprockets, oiling the...
This is what I was taught so I always used my kill switch. I didn't even realize it was supposed to be an emergency cut off switch, I thought it was simply a kill switch but I have since stopped using it
Well I rode out to long beach to take care of some business and back home with no incident, so I'm pretty sure it is fixed. Thanks guys for the help.
And if anyone else has this problem, the kill switch won't necessarily be the obvious problem. With mine, jiggling the switch around produced...
Just got back from my ride and it would seem as tho cleaning the switch has worked. I'm not gonna say with certainty that it's fixed yet cause of the problems inconsistent behavior but I have hope :)

I put back together the switch and then lifted up the tank so I could check wires with the bike on. I jiggled every wire I could see and nothing killed it. I'll take it for a ride in a few hours

I don't think the dash has every shut off during the episodes, but I wasn't paying that much attention. I know it was pretty much ready to start up as soon as it would quit, so probably not.

While I have it apart I'll probably take off the tank and check some connections. I also realized that the right grip is kinda loose, Idk if it's supposed to be like that or not.
And when I put the switch back together should I put grease on the bearing? If so will wheel bearing grease work? Or...
Awesome, I'd appreciate that. I just took off the switch and the contacts were pretty dirty and 1 has what seems to be a slight burn mark. I guess that's what I get for using it all the time

Monday is my day off so I'll start pulling things open and start testing connections. I have a very limited set of tools and nothing for electrics so we'll see how far I get. I'm hoping it's something stupid simple.
I did already try a simple test of the bars/forks, side stand and cutoff...
So I put the bike up on the center stand and turned it on, then tried wiggling the kill switch and nothing happened. I think I'll still try taking it apart and hope it works

Thank you for the warning. I am very aware of what can happen if it dies at the wrong time. Hence why I haven't been riding it over the past week except the once to try to get a handle on what could be happening
