well, i got her back saturday morning just in time to drive it to atlanta and back to visit family. she purred like a kitten. didn't hesitate, rough idle or stall in 120 miles of riding.
i sure hope that was the culprit. i'll wait now to see if my mileage was being affected by the TPS. i...
how about this one? does anybody's reserve bar start to blink which sets off the F: counter, THEN, after a few miles the bar stops blinking but the F: doesn't stop counting?
it like the reserve gets tricked into thinking there is less gas than there actually is.. then when it figures it out...
yep, i think i will. although i just changed them a few weeks ago and had scabs on my knuckles for days!!!! ha. the guys who designed these bikes obviously have never worn anything with a tag that says "XL".
i'll give report when i get her back. for now the truck is gonna get some...
called the local dealer to see if it was under the recall and he said it was. so, i'm gonna drop her off tonight and get the TPS and sprocket retaining nut both done. they said a week, ouch!!
he said the TPS can get hot after a bit of riding and cause the sensor to start acting up which is...
hey marina,
yea, 1250 is where i keep mine too. once the bike warms up for a few minutes that is still where it idles. it's after 6 or 7 miles that it starts to severely drop. something is happening as it gets hotter that's causing it to drop.
it is an 05 and might fall under the TPS...
HELP!! FZ6 is stalling once warm! REPORTING BACK
i've got an 05 fizzer with 8.5k miles on it. just did 8k mile service about 3 weeks ago. changed oil, plugs, etc.
everything has been great,
then,
a couple days ago after an 8 mile commute i noticed the rpms were down to about 8-900 when...
i can't make the exhaust smell like burning oil. it just smells like exhaust.
i changed the plugs today and they were looking pretty toasted. the white ceramic part was still white but the 'trodes were pretty black and the threads had a hint of oil on them. what does this tell me? not...
thanks for the test reiobard!
well, i'm starting to feel better. i'm going to check the air filter today to see if has any oil in it. time willing i'm going to change the plugs today also so i'll be able to look at their condition and hopefully gleen some more evidence.
oh yea, and i'm...
champion, the crankcase wasn't overfilled, it was just filled to the "max line" of the dipstick. but i drained some out anyway so now the oil comes the the middle of the dipstick ruler.
as for it smoking before, it would have a very, very light mist when warming up first thing in the morning...
today when i left work i cranked up my 2005 fz6 (8k miles and very well maintained) and a co-worker said he noticed a some light puffs of smoke coming out of the exhaust. if let idling it would produce just barely enough white/grey smoke to be visible ONLY if you were really looking hard for...
Re: Has your oil ever caused a change in gas mileage?
thanks for the tips! hellgate, i think you are on to something with the oil level. on the dipstick the oil was at the top of the 'hash marks'. not overfilled but filled to the max limit. i drained some out so the oil line is right in the...
Has your oil ever caused a change in gas mileage?
i have a 2005 fz6 that has always had mobile 1 synthetic oil in it since it's first change. bike has a little over 8k miles on it. this past oil change i used honda's synthetic oil (10w40, same as the mobile 1) and have lost appx. 20 miles per...
you can definitely get going real fast real quick but the more a shift without the clutch the smoother i can use this method even under 7k rpm. it takes a quicker 'blip' of the throttle but it can be done.
i'm with you! i'm in GA where the temp is mid 90's but humidity is near 100% some days. uggh!
sometimes on the ride home i'll be fairly comfy then i hit a red light. within seconds my head is on fire and the sweat begins to pour!
well this might rub some folks weird but now that gas is a solid 4 bucks a gallon it seems like EVERYBODY is on a bike these days. i have no problem with this, actually i'm really happy about it. BUT, the hand wave, signal, whatever you call it when you pass another rider is KILLING ME! i...
clutchless up-shifting on the fz is WORLDS smoother and less 'clunky' than using the clutch. the difference is night and day. i recommend it to everyone! i found i needed to adjust the height of my shift lever a touch so it's easier to pre-load the lever.
i have some yamaha soft side bags that were, according to the guy a got them from, made for the fz6. they are nowhere to be found online or on yamaha's site. they have the yamaha logo embossed so they are legit, just impossible to find. they even have a little cut out so the passengers heel...
havblue, did you quote that info from memory, down to the page number in G. World Records? if so, i'm more impressed with your memory than with the V65!!! ha!!
