Well not exactly a condom but both my front and rear brake fluid reservoirs have a kind of black sheath inside the chambers.
What are these for ? Should I remove them ?
They make it difficult to see - externally - whether the fluid needs toping up.
Do I need them ?
The offical service manual states that one must losen the rear axle nut (singular) on the chain side swingarm before turning the 2 x 2 sets of chain adjustmnet nuts (plural).
I also saw an old post here that referred to only one rear axle nut needing to be losened. However, I have seen...
My late 2004 FZ6 is on its fourth battery in 6 years wit the replacements being installed in 2005 (under warranty), 2007 and September 2009.
In the past week I have had to bump start my bike 5 times and yesterday twice, even after a long run. As I turn the ignition switch, the engine turns...

Anyway after reading a few posts, and seeing the FZ6 rather unkindly described as “aka the clonker” I...
Squirting WD40 down the hole where the key goes does not cure my problem.
My key is getting stuck in the fuel filler cap and / or intermttently will not turn.
I cannot see a diagram in the full Yamaha Servicve Manual- does anyone have a drawing please of how the mechanism goes togther or...
Today I just noticed that the plastic sheath covering wiring going to the headstock shows a fold and signs of wearing. IMHO it seems that water could get inside the outer cover so I wrapped a little insulating tape around the area.
As there is no obvious evidence of any electrical problems...
