    Bogging down

Put a wrecked 2007 fz6 tank (pristine condition on inside) and fuel pump on this weekend and took it for a nice long drive. The bike runs like a dream now. Ill probably re-line the other tank with that stuff called "Kreem" and eventually put it back on, but im liking the wrecked tank right now...

    Bogging down

Ok, so i finally got around to working on it some this weekend. I reached as far as i could inside the tank and scraped as much rust as i could out with a metal brush, and actually got a significant portion of rust out. I was able to fashion a cover out of the side of a oil jug, and tested it...

Not really sure, havnt measured it, but a plastic cup would be slightly too small i think. Also, not sure if it could stand up to the tank etching fluid that your supposed to use before re-coating the inside. The directions on the packaging for this process arent very informative, ill have to do...

    Bogging down

It really did, im very surprised. Ive heard of the same trick, just with washers and spare nuts, but same effect really. I plan to do that first, and then use this stuff called Kreem that i bought a local motorcycle gear store. Im at a loss for how to fashion a cover for the pump hole in the...

Yeah, I'm more inclined to think that he left it empty, though a pissed ex would make for a funnier story. Here's some after clean up pics and one of how much LOOSE rust came out of the tank. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Camiaz/IMAG0189.jpg...

    Bogging down

I know, it seems like bad news. Ive checked over the motorcycle and cant find any other signs of rust or submersion. I do have the title in hand, just a regular old title. I actually double checked the VIN with a Yamaha dealer, and the guy is the original owner, and there is no history on the...

    Bogging down

My dad found a tank, pump, and cap assembly for about $100 and bought it for me, so ill have something to use while the riding season is still good, but i still plan to try and fix this up as much as possible. Ive disassembled the fuel pump as far as i can and done some hefty cleaning, and its...

    Bogging down

Took my tank off and apart yesterday.... No wonder im having problems. There is a pile of rust at the bottom of my tank, and the fuel filter was in seriously bad condition. The tank may not be serviceable, but someone suggested i try electrolysis just to see how it works. I've disassembled the...

    Bogging down

Yeah, thats about what im going to do. I got a tank treatment today and will probably get around to taking the tank off this weekend. Im thinking im going to leave the pump alone for right now, and just clean the tank sock off(If it has one).

    Bogging down

I dont understand how it could have gotten this bad, its only an 06 with 1500 miles on it! Oh well, im on the look out for a blue tank now, so if anyone spots a good deal on a good lookin tank, let me know!

Ok, if the pictures dont show up on here, ive included direct links to the pictures themselves. Also, when the pictures are blown up, you can really see just how bad the gas tank looks. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o11/Camiaz/IMAG0138.jpg...

Yeah, I know what your saying, I just want to avoid doing damage to, or gunking up, the fuel injectors. I have a couple pictures of what it looks like so ill try to find a way to post them.

    Bogging down

Went to a yamaha dealer today. They said i need a new gas tank, mine is too rusted (from previous owner letting motorcycle sit). Probably will need a new fuel pump, because the shop doesnt disassemble them to replace the filters. Also a new cam chain tensioner to get rid of a clicking noise.

I cant find anything the manual called a fuel sending unit, but are you saying its part of the pump itself or just the fuel system? Is 100-150 miles on a tank normal? I thought it was supposed to get far better gas mileage than that. Changed oil recently, to Rotella 15W-40(In Florida), as it has...

    Bogging down

I recently bought a 2006 FZ6 with 1,500 miles on it, and assume because of this it has been sitting for a while. After riding for about 30 minutes, I gunned the throttle open hard. The motorcycle acted as if it were going to speed up, but then experienced bogging and began to slow down, even...

    Having trouble finding a FZ6

Eh, i would still like a lower mileage bike just to be safe, however I'll keep what you said in mind. At this point, im more curious about where else i could look for available bikes that i haven't looked already (Craigs list, cycle trader, ebay).

    Having trouble finding a FZ6

Thanks for the quick feedback! BH322893, unfortunately those bikes wont work for me:( The red one is over my price range. I already contacted the seller of the black one, at which point he told me that there was 35K miles on it! I would rather not purchase anything that is over 12k if i can...

    Having trouble finding a FZ6

After looking at what the motorcycle world has to offer, I've decided that an FZ6 would be a perfect choice for my first motorcycle. However, there's one hang up- I cant seem to find a suitable offer that fits within my preferences! Because of this, I have decided to consult the members of this...
