BMW Telelever forks didn't come out until the early '80s. This bike has a "Earles"-type fork, which was developed in England & used by BMW & MV Agusta from the early '50s through the late '60s. It was mainly designed to work well for sidecar duty.

If I'm not mistaken, ABS is supposed to be standard on all road-going motorcycles over 600cc here in the U.S. by 2014. Not a bad thing, me thinks. Although I've never ridden a bike with ABS, I'm told it greatly reduces accidents.
