    Dirt sucks.

the good news about the insurance issue is since htere was no police report, and since my application was submitted before the incident, this never happened as far as the ins co is concerned. The hospital has programs that help out the uninsured, and speaking of civic duty...I'm still paying my...

    Dirt sucks.

UPDATE Surgery got bumped up. I'm going in tomorrow morning at 5am. This is good news. Hopefully that will speed up recovery dramatically. I'll get this stupid cast off my leg, and I'll no longer feel bones shifting around every time i have to stand up to take a piss

    Dirt sucks.

I knew I'd get some flak, hopefully some thorough explanation will clear things up. This is a chance to learn, that's all. I've been riding almost every day for the past 3 years, racking up 45,000 miles in that short time. I'm obviously doing something right if this is the first major injury...

    Dirt sucks.

Monday I went out riding with my friends, we hit mulholland drive, rode the snake, then out to encinal canyon towards the beach. We go to stop at a turn out, I may have been going a tiny bit faster than I'd like but I was still confident that I had it. At the last second, just as I was coming to...

Prep for touring (LA to Seattle)

Can't even do that for a while. I broke my leg riding on Monday. Sucks but it happens to all of us. Caught some dirt at a turn out and it came out from under me. Thread here http://www.600riders.com/forum/fallen-riders-memory/40382-dirt-sucks.html#post434875

Prep for touring (LA to Seattle)

Just an update, in case anyones interested...I couldn't make the ride. I had a very expensive problem come up resulting in having my fake tooth extracted from my skull, a new one's going to cost me about $3,500. Nearly half of what I have in savings right now. Really sucks, but I can't be taking...

Got my throttlemeister! WOW! I wish I had gotten this thing a long time ago! Installation was a breeze and it works perfectly. The heavy version also helps a lot with vibrations, and they look awesome. I just wish that little red stripe were blue, to match my bike :D Pics soon, i should...

    Loud exhaust saves lives. Really?

you have TWO air horns? what's that sound like? I have a stebel nautilus and I LOVE it...when it works :\ I think I have to actually solder the connections to the horn itself, the vibrations make it so sometimes i have it, sometimes I dont. annoying.

lol! Yeah, I know, I should be putting all that money back into my motorcycle instead of investing it in a house.

Prep for touring (LA to Seattle)

Definitely. I haven't forgotten, but I do forget to talk about it, maybe because it has less to do with actual modifications. It is essential though. I'm going to get the same kit that my mechanic just used to fix my tire a few weeks ago..because it was very effective and he didn't have to take...

Prep for touring (LA to Seattle)

I got my Cee Bailey's windshield. It really helps with wind. I think if I had a tank bag I could kinda lay down on it and be comfortable and completely out of the wind noise for a long ride. I also did the copper pipe accessory mount bar thing, heh, that was pretty easy. I ordered RAM mounts...

    Toes out through a turn

No doubt. I think that's the best approach. It's still a strange feeling knowing that I've finally got comfortable enough to get to that level of riding. After putting down as many miles as I have, I'm still learning my limits. The learning really never does stop, does it?

    Toes out through a turn

There ya go. Good call. I can tell you for sure, I was going crazy fast, and I never go that fast through regular turns, but the point you made about the peg feelers is duly noted. It was a thought that crossed my mind. I always do sit up on the soles of my feet when I'm doing serious riding...

    Toes out through a turn

My technique will always need improvement but I know I wasn't getting crossed up, but I'll be honest, I was going pretty damn fast. It's a newly paved freeway onramp, and it's the only time I ever get that low. Sign says 15 but I'm going about 45 so...yeah, heh. I was hauling balls through that...

    Toes out through a turn

I've been riding a lot with my friends these past few months. I've put down a lot of miles on my own, but it was mostly freeway. My friends are far more experienced, the best rider of our group is also my mechanic. Last ride he told me that i was leaning too far off my bike through a turn...

    So.cal. Best service

Great to hear. I had alwasy left dealerships feeling like I got ripped off, no matter what the quality of work was. I'd always justify it to myself by saying it was worth it, but the last time I got it back from a dealer, the chain wasn't even cleaned. WTF. I only took it to my friend because...
