    Anyone with Yamaha Tenere ?

I had a look at the Tenere before I decide to get a Fazer. I do like the looks of them, but as Ridgeback says, when it's competing against KTM, they don't make much sense. They're cheaper than the BMW GS series of bikes though, yet I see loads of GS's on the road, and have never seen a Tenere...

    2010 fz6 not so hot?

In the UK, it's not even called the FZ6R, its called the XJ6, or XJ6 Diversion for the half-fairing model - the successor to the XJ600 Diversion (which is what I had before the FZ6 Fazer). The Divvy was always a class below the Fazer, and still is. Can't understand why they call it the FZ6R in...

    FZ6 Fazer Gearbox

The gearbox on the FZ6 is certainly an improvement over the one on my old XJ600. A lot of people say that Yamaha boxes can just be a bit clunky - compared to the XJ600, the FZ6 was like butter! Don't be worried by it, it's a characteristic of the bike rather than a problem with it. By the...

    Is my bike an import?

Right, final update on this - I'm no longer an FZ6 owner! The dealer took it back and gave me my money back, so all is sorted now and I'm free to go and find another one. Actually, I've already found two I like the look of for the same money, and both have immobilisers and 'Fazer' on the side...

    I.C.E. tags anyone??

I wear one of these around my neck when on the bike: Utag ICE. You can put loads of info on the USB stick, and can get the normal metal dog tag engraved as well. I was given it when I did the BikeSafe course with South Wales Police last year.

    Is my bike an import?

Just checked in the Haynes manual, and in there it certainly appears to be the same side for low beam regardless of country (just the alignment will be different). Out of interest, I'd already put my bike up against a wall to check the alignment of the low beam, and it dipped to the left as it...

    Is my bike an import?

Mine is also missing the 'Pass' switch on the left-hand controls (which is to 'flash' the high beam on UK models).

    Is my bike an import?

Mine is on the left while sitting on it, but I actually thought UK models were the same?

    Is my bike an import?

That's the plan. They are ringing me in the morning to discuss it. I could just ask for a partial refund to cover the lower value, or some other form of compensation, but I fear I'll always have this nagging doubt that if this history was hidden, is there any other hidden history that the HPI...

    Is my bike an import?

Well, this had gone from getting better to worse again :( I'd sent an e-mail to Yamaha UK, and they have checked the frame number. According to them, the bike was built for the USA, and was not imported into the UK by Yamaha UK. So it's an unofficial, 'grey', import :( Not sure what to do now. I...

    Acumen DG8 plug-n-play loom

One of the first mods I want to do to my FZ6 is to fit a gear indicator. I like the look of the Acumen, so went looking for a plug-n-play loom, as I'd rather not have to worry about soldering the wires in. There wasn't one on their website, so I e-mailed them. They were very quick to respond...

    Is my bike an import?

Right, well, I think I'm getting somewhere with this. It's not an unofficial import, but it is a US spec bike according to the local Yamaha dealer. I think I'm happy with that. Personally, I don't really care about having the immobiliser (I'd rather fit an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser to be...

    Is my bike an import?

This is what I get back when I run the VIN through that site: "2005 YAMAHA FZ6-S* VIN: World region:Asia Manufactured in:Japan Year:2005* Make:Yamaha* Model:FZ6-S* Body style:Road / Street* Drive type:RWD* Cylinders:4 Cylinders" Doesn't mention which market it wad built for...

    Is my bike an import?

From what I do know, it's been in the UK since December 2004, and has been MOT'd (our annual test in the UK for vehicles over 3 years old) without problem for the last 3 years by the previous owner, and was declared new when it was registered in the UK. The dealer isn't a Yamaha main dealer...

    Is my bike an import?

I've checked the ignition barrel, and there isn't a 'Parking' position after the 'Lock' position. Doesn't surprise at the moment to be honest! I guess that's where the MOT regulations get confusing, as the next section says this: "A motor bicycle (with or without a side car) fitted with a...

    Is my bike an import?

Thanks. It hasn't got reflectors on the forks or on the back end. Not having position lights isn't a problem - the MOT manual says they aren't required if the bike is fitted with a headlight. I've sent the dealer an email, though I haven't had a response yet. Were there any other...

    Is my bike an import?

Thanks for all the replies so far. It certainly sounds like it is an unofficial import. To answer the questions, yes it is the half-faired model, and it does sound like what we call side lights are known as POD lights in the US. I'm not worried about quality if is an import, I'm more worried...

    Is my bike an import?

First post, so hopefully it's not a stupid one! I just bought an 2005 model (54 plate) FZ6 Fazer. I'm in the UK, and bought it from a large chain dealership, so expected that it would be a proper UK model. When I got it home on Saturday, I started reading through the manual, and a few things...
