Another thing to consider is that you can actually adjust the aim of the headlights on the FZ6. Check your owners manual and you will see how to do it. Even after doing that mod I still felt they were not bright enough and it turned out they just needed to be adjusted.

I recently bought a 2009 883 HD and I am very impressed with it. It is geared very tall and has plenty of power. It's also pretty easy to work on as well. I would do it again in a heartbeat !!!!!!!!

I switched mine out when I got my new windshield and they were metric. 5mm just like you said. I may have used 12mm length because in the US 14mm length are hard to find. I used stainless steel button allen head and they worked nicely.
