So I have been riding it pretty frequently and the smell is still their each time with varying intensity. I opened the oil fill hole on the clutch cover after a ride and noticed no unusual odor. It seems like the smell is coming from the exhaust pipe where it heads straight up and then goes up...

Also, I did smell my brakes after riding to school and the smell did not seem to be coming from the front or rear brakes.

I did have the cable lubed recently. I think I had it lubed after the smell started. So you think the amber colored oil was just from lining the clutch cable?

Okay, So! I think I figured out the smell. I found an oil leak. Under the seat by where the clutch cable runs. Coming from a part of the engine adjacent (toward the rear of the bike) from the cylinder block. I found some oil there leaking onto the clutch cable. Thoughts?

I will try gunning it in a safe place. I have yet to feel any slippage yet. It also just seems weird how far out I have to let the clutch before it bites. I had an SV650 before and I would let out the clutch like 3/4in at it would grab.

Now that its started getting to be 60-80F where I am it's been 160-200F.

I noticed the smell coming from below my seat so I don't think it's the brakes. I also noticed my oil is getting blacker more quickly so I will have to check and see if the oil smells burnt when I get home.

I have noticed that the smell is worse the harder I ride. In theory if it is not the clutch, would just idling the bike in neutral and revving the engine produce the same smell. Because I feel like only when the clutch is engaged do I smell anything.

Well ****, what could that burning smell be? I took it to a mechanic already that diagnosed the clutch. The clutch cable is adjusted all the way.

I guess I should say, the reason I am replacing the clutch is for the following reasons; The bike has a strong burning smell after riding for only a short time, the clutch lever does not "bite" until it is almost all the way out, and the clutch cable is adjusted all the way out. As far as I...

Whenever my bike exceeds 207 deg F the fan kicks on and runs even after the bike is turned off. It will continue to run until I reaches 205. My question is shOuld I wait until it turns itself off or can I remove the key and force it to shut off?
