try heavier bar ends . maybe get some a square sorbothane pads and sandwich that in-between the handlebar and triple tree. something like that....

big agnes lynx pass 3. it has a big vestibule which is nice. go to rei and try some out. remember you can put your tent in a compression bag to save room. i can put my tent, sleeping bag, inflatable pillow, sleeping mattress and sleeping bag liner in a 27liter ortleib drybag.

Motoports seems good. I don't have the mesh version. Klim Mojave seem nice, but you have to put your own armor underneath. It's more for offroad, but it does have cordura.

Here's a better route...

fabric guard 303 from west marine you can get this from walmart pretty cheap WATERPROOFING and then there's nikwax. dont alternate between the silicone spray with the nikwax. i think the silicone spray will lock out the nikwax...
