I personally did not try to use the stock rear fender. My cans would be a lot cleaner tho if I had been able to and wanted to. The bracket pictured a couple posts back would be required to reuse the rear fender. I think that one came with a Laser exhaust. A fellow member shared those pics...

I forgot to mention I whittled on the tabs on those two semi-circular brackets so they wouldn't touch my cans. Good ole side grinder did the trick nicely. And, if you come up with something better than I did, please tell me :)

I plan to repack mine at my 8k oil change. I put them on when the bike had 1k, and at my 4k oil change I swapped the cans. I need to order the kit soon. I'm not really looking forward to it. I hope it's as easy as it sounds...and I don't have any OOPS! moments doing it. :)

Wow. This hits too close to home, guys. My exgf got a very nice '04 (I think it was) VW Jetta when she graduated HS from her parents. It was the turbo, sports package, sunroof, monsoon sound system with 6 CD changer, the whole 9 yards and then some. An awesome little car to say the least...
