I've just returned from a quick 2300 mile round trip to Florida and back and consistently got 52 mpg, stopped to fill up usually at 200 mile intervals, and that was while running steady interstate speeds, trying to keep out of the truckers' and idiot drivers' way nearly the entire way.

The first place to start is replacing the rubber brake lines with braided steel lines. They will give a much firmer feel through the brake levers, putting more effort to the calipers with no loss of pressure through expansion of the rubber lines. If this isn't enough, switch to EBC HH sintered...

Here you go! I put these on in August...capacity is incredible! Topcase will hold two full-face helmets; sidecases are more capacious than the sidecases on my BMW.

D-Mac, you're going to love the topcase...and the sidecases, when you get them. I get lots of comments on the sidecases looking like they're factory-installed, they fit so well.

I wear a full-face helmet, too, but there's a fair amount of neck and the underside of my chin that are exposed. I wear a polar fleece neck buff, tuck it up under the chin guard of my FF helmet. With this arrangement, plus my Gerbing heated jacket liner, I can ride all day in near-freezing temps.

Thanks for backing me up, Boneman! I'm a "she" not a "he," by the way. I can see the rationale for banning pump locks in Canada, but that sure would make it hard for some folks who, as you say, have large tanks. Sometimes the pumps are very slow and I've found myself trying to fill my truck...

I never use a handle lock to fill my bike...that's just stupid and dangerous! However, I do use the lock to fill my truck's 22 gal gas tank, especially when the tank is nearly empty and the pumps are running really slow. And some motorcycle riders (like you) are so incredibly lazy they...
