Spend a little extra and get the shorter seat from Germany. It seems very comfortable for me. I assume they use some gel insert to compensate for the lack of foam. It definitely is shorter (supposed to be by 3cm).

TPS was mostly an issue around 2004. I think with all the improvements of '07+, given the choise, I would go with an '07+. Consider also the GSX650F as a sporty tourer in this price range. If you are looking for something that has adequate power and not very fast, the FZ6R is plenty if it fits...

How tall are you? What do you mean by too narrow? If you are a bigger/taller person the FZ6 would fit you better. The FZ6R and Ninja 650 are more equivalent based on price and size. Also, consider the GSX650F as an alternative. Are you looking to buy new? The FZ6 definitely has a narrow clutch...

Agree with above comments. I would personally not pay more than $4k for an '05. I paid $6600 OTD for my brand new '08 back in April. Check out the '07 models too - they are different and you may like them a little better.

lugger...ride around town in 3-4k range and downshift to 2nd gear when I come to a stop. Occassionally I ride it higher lik 4-6krpm. Almost never above that.
