Congrats on making a decision. It looks very nice. It has a sinister, almost street fighter like look in raven with not mods. I am so used to mine with the trunk and PUIG screen which makes it look more like a sport touring. Yours looks like streetfighter!

If I had to do it over again now, I would seriously consider the FZ6R over the FZ6. The FZ6 is probably a better bike overall - much lighter (don't forget wet weights include centerstand on the FZ6 and a bigger tank), more powerful and a little better quality components. Coming from a Ninja 500...

Yamaha itself came up with the FZ6R not for the purpose of comparing it to the FZ6, but rather as a more beginner friendly bike. It's competitors are more like the GSX650F and Ninja 650. Again, not the FZ6. Why do we have to compare it to the FZ6 all the time and say this is what the FZ6 has...

I bought my '08 FZ6 from Parkway in April of last year for $6600 OTD (not including taxes). The price you are seeing is on the high side. While it is peak season, the market is not great since the economy is not doing well. Granted the '09 is $300 more, you should be able to still do well with...

I don't take rt 9 from Newton into the city anymore, so not me...I got a PUIG and GIVI trunk - hard to miss me. 8-)

That is the selling point of the FZ6S2 - the overall package. The Shiver is a gorgeous bike, but from what I have read has not really held up against competitors like the street triple. It is also not quite the beginner bik the 696 is. I think it will have a hard time carving its niche.

Yeah, centerstand is optional with the GSX650F. It would add even more weight to an already heavy bike.

Apples and oranges! GSX650F is NOT a GSX600R, it is the replacement to the Katana (and a damn good one). It got rave reviews in the press. Not really a direct competitor to the FZ6S2 - more to the FZ6R/Diversion. I also could not get over the size of the exhaust, but that could be replaced...

Agree with Maycyn...awesome bike and motor, but I also could not live with the riding position. My friend in California swears by his SV650S - a 2002 model which he bought new. When was the last year they sold the SV1000S?
