I have the Yamaha tail rack on my bike, and it doesn't look half bad without the big ugly Givi box installed. Here it is on my FZ6: That said, I leave the big ugly Givi box on the bike 99% of the time, as it's just soooo convenient.

I don't really do much group riding these days, but am just south of Emmaus. Silver 2004 FZ6 with dual HID projectors, R6 forks/brakes, 2007 swingarm and a big ugly givi box on back.

2004-2006 wind noise is horrible! Hey Original Poster, you are not hallucinating. :BLAA: I bought my 2004 new in 2004, and it has the worst wind noise of any bike that I've ever ridden. I wear ear plugs and they only block out the high frequency stuff, but the wind noise is still nasty...

Well, that does make sense, especially if you are only running a single bulb due to your naked conversion. Personally, I'm scared of exceeding our lame alternator output, so with two headlights, I'm okay with the lower wattage ballasts. :D

That is slick. I didn't realize that they had these setups for non-projector assemblies. Pretty cool! With the glare caps, it might actually be permissible to run these without projectors. Let us know if you run these in your SV1000. I can't imagine the need for the 55W stuff...

I do notice the cut off when leaning into a turn, but it's not a really big deal. The HID's put out sooooo much more light that the halogen lights, that there's probably more light to the side even with the cutoff. And like another poster said, I usually put the high beams on. What I keep...

My 2004 has been fine since new, but many people have posted about their steering head bearings becoming totally shot. I'd imagine if the bearing was so bad that it was partially frozen, that could cause what you've experienced.

I don't recall having any fitment problems with my brake lever. Before I drilled anything, I would probably drop an email to The2Wheels with a copy of that picture. You might have been shipped the wrong lever or something.
