From 06 to 07 they changed the fairing and guages, they also changed the swing arm and the passenger pegs are removable. If I were in the market for one I would go with a 07+.

If you are just doing the outside a microfiber cloth and quick detailer work great. On the visor plain water. I wash the inside of mine with water and shampoo.

Nice shape! As far as the color I would do one of 2 things either color match it, or like Teeter said go with the flat black. I'm not realy feeling the gloss black. You could always do it flat black first, thats nice and cheap. If you decide you don't like it then you could color match that way...
