Remote reservoirs - where did you put yours?

I ordered a Penske 8983 and it arrived today. I got it mounted, but there doesn't seem to be a good place to put the remote reservoir. The 90 degree fitting for the hose makes it such that it cannot go in the storage area under the seat, and unlike this Ohlins install...

What chain lube/wax for long tips?

Surprised to see all the chain wax bashers here. I think I actually found the recommendation to use Maxima chain wax on this forum. It's good. No rust, no sling, and a smooth running chain. I have yet to see any emprical evidence to suggest the superiority of one product over the other...

What chain lube/wax for long tips?

I've been a fan of Maxima chain wax, though I've never used anything else. Doesn't sling, easy to apply, seems to do a good job at protecting the chain.

    FS: Motovation front axle slider

Swapped on R6 forks and can no longer use this. I actually thought they were in perfect condition when I pulled them off, but one puck has a tiny scrape! $40 shipped USPS priority.

I didn't post pictures of my own repair. ;-)

    MT - 07 Tracer!

If you look at the MT-09 tracer (linked in that article) you'll see a modern FZ6. If I were shopping for a direct replacement of the FZ6, that's where I would look. Yamaha definitely recognizes they had a great bike!

    Plasti dipping my 08FZ6

I'm guessing you mean the stator cover, not the crank case. I repainted mine after the bike went down. I used VHT black pearl engine metallic as seen in this post: http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-general-discussion/47992-paint-black-frame-engine-color-match.html Mine didn't turn out quite...

Next bike? What it would be?

How is the vibration on the VTX? I rode my buddy's 1200 Sportster that vibrated my vision when sitting at a light. And this was the one with the rubber engine mounts!

    Which Tyre????

Not doubting your opinion, but there's more to a tire's age than whether they're dry rotted. A tire will harden over time and provide less grip as they go through numerous heat cycles. At 8+ years old, they're surely harder than they were originally. Just how hard are you pushing them?

Next bike? What it would be?

True, if you're going to ride in the winter, I don't think I'd go for a naked bike. The R Nine T has ABS and available heated grips, but no traction control or throttle profiles that would make it safer in inclement weather. I think the prices are about the same, actually, and the tank is 4.8...

Next bike? What it would be?

I almost completely agree with you on the MV Agusta. For looks, I don't think you can beat a slightly cafe'd out BMW R Nine T: I wish more manufacturers would put out a modern cafe bike.

    Anyone with UBER user experience

I've used it a few times. No issues. If anything, even UberX cars are nicer than the standard Crown Vic taxi or even some of the newer hybrids.

    5100 vs 7100, oil change

What oil did you run previously? I'm a fan of Rotella T6 5w30 myself since it's cheap, readily available, and it improved shifting over the Mobil 1 4T that the previous owner used.

    Shinya Kimura MT-07

The SR-400 is an older style, very simple bike. Single brake rotor, single cylinder, kick start (really?), low-tech suspension, and strictly classic styling. When I see the BMW R Nine-T, I see a modern bike with a sporty engine, ABS, heated grips, up to date sport suspension and a few classic...

    Shinya Kimura MT-07

Now this looks cool. Too bad they left the digital gauges in place. Sheesh. Shinya Kimura's I'd love to see Yamaha put out a lighter weight, less expensive version of the BMW R Nine-T. While the BMW is way overpriced for what it is, it's one of the best looking bikes out these days...

Pirelli Angel GT's arriving today. Please give feedback on this tire

I've been happy with my Angel GTs for the past 11 months. They did well enough at my first two track days last month that I couldn't outride them, and they seem to be wearing pretty well, even though I only have 3k on them. I've only been caught in the rain a couple times, and while I was...

How To Tie Down in Uhaul Truck

You may not need a chock, but I secure my bike with a chock. Wrap a strap around the lower triple and run to tie down points in the truck's box. Tighten the strap, but not so much that you completely run out of suspension travel or you'll blow your fork seals. Run another strap through the...

What's with all the all-digital instruments?

Some of the more high end gauge clusters like the new R1 or Ducati 1199 Panigale have full color LCDs which could be customized in any number of ways (including a picture of an analog tach!) Colors for RPM, temperature, fuel, etc. can be useful as you mentioned. However, the LCDs on "regular"...

What's with all the all-digital instruments?

Most speedometers in cars these days are not mechanical anymore anyway, even though they are analog. They work with a stepper motor based off the speed the ECU says the bike is moving just like an analog tach. There are costs associated with a lot of things, but this seems like a terrible...
