To wave or not to wave, that is the unorigionally named poll...

I wave at all motorbikes, including cops (although they don't often wave back here in France) and bikes with sidecars. I never wave at scooters (although have been caught out by the sporty maxiscooters - didn't get a wave back...and hoped no other bikers saw me :D ). I don't wave at the...

    Fork spring/oil question.

I think you'll notice a fairly significant difference with all these mods. I did just with a higher oil viscosity!

    Fork spring/oil question.

Def I'd definitely recommend a higher viscosity fork oil. Obviously it's your call, and depends on your weight, if you load up a lot etc. But I weigh about 80kg and sometimes have some baggage so lets say around 90kg with bags plus gear. I put in 15wt oil and it's a very nice improvement...

    Fork spring/oil question.

Then maybe there is a difference between the 04-06 bikes? Now I am confused!! The Haynes manual doesn't mention a difference between models... Anyone else know anything different? This has the potential to be a hot forum debate!!! Or maybe, it's just me and Mr Haynes that are wrong!!!

    Fork spring/oil question.

I changed my fork oil today as it was way over due (bike is an 06 model and has never had this done!!!). The grey watery gunk that came out of the fork was pretty horrible looking! Swapped to a heavier weight oil (15w) but kept the stock springs. When I took them out the tighter wound coils...

    Maintenance log

My high tech service and maintenance log is in the form of pencil-written scribbles on the notes page of the owners manual! :ban: However, I do like the idea of keeping a spreadsheet and some pics so I may have to start one up!

04-06 ABS model braided lines upgrade?

    Anyone?!

04-06 ABS model braided lines upgrade?

I've been thinking about upgrading to stainless steel braided lines as I'm due to change the brake fluid (like yesterday!). I have an 06 ABS model. From searches on here I know some people have upgraded to SS lines on 07+ ABS models, but these seems to have been a problem getting SS lines from...

Three years, still original brake fluid

I saw this thread just after I have gone out and spent a small fortune on brake fluid, fork oil, coolant, engine oil and filter and a few other bits and pieces, in order to do a complete service at home. My local shop would do it all for a fairly reasonable price, but I can save myself over 100...

Strangest thing you've ever had caught/found in your helmet?

Haha! Funny thread this! Couple of years ago I had a wasp in my helmet. The difference was that somehow the little bugger had got inbetween the shell and the lining. He must have hit the helmet, got pinned by the wind but managed to crawl in through the front vent port! I could feel him walking...

    Leg Waves

Ha! I stick my leg out all the time too! But over here in French France it's what you have to do when you overtake because we drive on the right - if you use your clutch hand nobody will see you, if you use your right hand you slow down! :BLAA: We also use it to thank cagers when they move...

    April 2011 euro moto adventure!

Dammit I wish I was going to be here to join you guys for a leg of this trip! I miss the Rhone Alpes region where I lived last year; the roads were simply amazing! I was truly spoilt there with my Fazer! Now living in Paris is killing me, the roads are all dead straight and everything is...

    Oregon Scientific ATC9K Review

Yes, a little different to your high pitched squeal, mine was more like a very loud buzz, like a bunch of hornets in a tin can. Really horrible! But even in other places you just get the wind noise anyway. I remember someone on here recommended sticking a bit of tape over the mic but I never...

    Oregon Scientific ATC9K Review

Nice review Smersh! I have an earlier nonHD version of this camera and it looks like the mounts have not changed for this new version at all - they are just as rubbish. Also had the same sound problems. Some good places I found to mount the camera were from the rear grab handle (facing...

    FZ6 headlight

You'll need to be careful - it's possible that any headlight you buy might need an e-mark to pass the MOT, as well as making sure the headlight beam is aligned properly. The sticker or beam-bender used for holidays won't pass the MOT, and I'm not sure about overseas headlights having the e-mark...

    The police?

A not very exciting story: Moved to France to years ago and brought my UK registered bike with me. You're supposed to officially import it after a few months, but I kept it as UK registered, taxed and insured as long as possible to save money. I got stopped by a (quite gorgeous) female...

    Holy cr4p!

Ha ha! As I was watching this I was thinking 'so many people are not gonna understand a word of what Foggy is on about!' The dude is Carl Fogarty (superbike legend) and he's from Blackburn, Lancashire in the north of England. TBH, not sure many people from the south of England could understand...

    I need a bigger tank!

I've been thinking a lot about my fuel the last few weeks too Nelly. I do about a 100km round trip on the autoroute, in heavy traffic sometimes, and I seem to be forever filling up. With a quick guess I'm getting around 250ish km per tank. My average speed for a journey is probably about 110kph...
