    When to Downshift into 1st

I usually only put it into first when I'm almost stopped and the clutch is in. But on the rare times I do, I make sure to revmatch it so the rear tire doesn't skid. That happened to me when I first started riding and it was an asspucker moment.

rear end feels squirrely or too light?

I've never had this problem, but I'm also a bigger dude. I guess it would depend on a few factors, I.E. your weight and riding position, temperature and ground condition, and tires. If you have less than 100 miles on the tires or if they're too worn. The only time the backend has ever gotten...

Air Injection System (AIS) removal - quick ?'s

I installed a set of block off plates a while ago. I don't remember the AIS system being attatched to any wiring, possibly that's just on 07+ models. I still get a little popping just because my bike runs rich and has no cat.

First bike...FZ6 or FZ1 for a big guy?

The FZ6 is an amazing first bike for anyone. I'm 6' 300lb and the FZ6 is plenty fast for me. It still does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. This bike really isn't made for power wheelies unless you do a sprocket change. I did the -1/+2 and the front wheel pops up under full throttle in 1st, and while...

2007 new style Swingarm (complete) $100

    Throttle hesitation when cold???

The manual actually states that the engine is fully warmed up when throttle response is normal, and 2 bars are lit on the coolant temp gauge.

engine "popping" from lean air/fuel mixture?

Yes its harmless. You cant really hear it with the stock exhaust, thats why everyone notices it when they install an aftermarket exhaust. I removed it on my bike but only because I removed the cat and you really need both to work together. It did smooth out shifts a little bit. Maybe that's...

'06 must be the fastest model..

Yeah it's a bit rediculous, but think of it this way Red/Blue is painted Black is just straight black plastic When I replaced my main fairing, it was only $80 for the black as opposed to $330 for the red.

engine "popping" from lean air/fuel mixture?

There's a system on the bike called the "Air Injection system", it basically puts air into the exhaust ports during low/off throttle situations in order to ignite any unburnt fuel, for emissions purposes. It's harmless other than the annoying popping sound.

    15 T sprocket

The fastest I ever went with stock gearing was 125mph, on the same road. The road only has a straight of 0.81 miles and I've never really tried going that fast anywhere else. It's easier to get to redline with the shorter gearing

wrecked my bike, need a new fairing, what should I get?

I went stock but changed the colors and stuff up a bit. It was actually cheaper this way.

    False neutrals!!!!!

False neutrals will happen with any sequential transmission like ours. They are worse when the shift forks are damaged, which can be due to abuse or increased wear. The best thing to avoid them is to preload the shift lever and BE FIRM with your shifts. I once hit a false neutral between...

Where do i find replacement '07 fairings?

The best place online to order OEM yamaha parts is Ron Ayers Motorsports - Motorcycle, ATV, Jet Ski and Generators Parts and Accessories I've spent $1,500 with them on parts and stuff. Or you can go to any yamaha dealership, but it's going to cost more.

    Speedo Healer and 15t install

The most that would change is a few mm, which I don't anyone other than Rossi could tell the difference in. A shorter wheelbase would make turn in easier. A longer wheelbase would make it a little more difficult but would increase straight line stability. Of course this is talking about a few...

    Two Brothers-Take the edge off!

It looks funny but I like the ingenuity! Not sure if I want to lose the loudness on my bike though.
