Tyres and handling, seeking an explanation!

Despite my Dunlop tires' limitations, I just can't bring myself to replace them before they are either worn out or too old. :o

Tyres and handling, seeking an explanation!

Precisely......as one magazine tester said of our bikes: "The FZ6 rewards the smooth rider" Notwithstanding the realities of our FZ6's stock suspension and the physics of the cornering dynamics, when I'm diving into a corner in 2nd gear, engine starting to howl at 12000 rpm's...

Tyres and handling, seeking an explanation!

One can certainly explore the limits of a stock FZ6 chasing one of these....

Tyres and handling, seeking an explanation!

What I have discovered is that the "better" I become with my cornering skills, the more I discover the limitations of my wonderful FZ6. In hard, fast corners, my FZ6 will upset quite easily if I encounter an unexpected bump or hole in the road. It's not uncontrollable, but it does "spoil" the...

    Anyone use a "comfort seat"?

Do you feel that the Comfort Seat is either a bit lower, or narrower than the OEM seat? IOW, do you think it would give a person with shorter legs and bit more "foot" on the ground?

    Fazr6 deemed "illegal"

If the FE bracket is made of aluminum, I wouldn't try to bend it....it can and will start to crack at the edges where you bend it. Much better to enlarge the bracket mounting holes to angle it down more. If it's made of steel, you should be able to bend the bracket without any issues.

Motorcyclist shot in back from traffic cop

I respectfully disagree....that traffic cop did have the luxury of time to assess and deal with the situation, even after he got out of his patrol car. There was no "split second decision" required. Here is an example of an officer making a "split second decision":- Video : Hamilton officer...

Motorcyclist shot in back from traffic cop

Wow. I played the part where the shooting occurred about a dozen times. I can see no justification for the cop to have fired his pistol. There was no "split second decision" to be made. Yes, the rider's left hand remained on the grip and he turned to his right, placing his right hand on his...

When is the fz6 warm enough for riding

That's the beauty of Fuel Injection....you can start up and go. If you're concerned about "wear" because the motor's still not at working temperature, then take it easy until the engine does reach working temp. The notion that an engine has to be warmed up to working temp before moving is a...

decibal killers, where can i buy?

Here's where I got my OEM Scorpion DB killers from in the UK:- BikeBitz UK ::: Quality Range of Motorcycle Accessories, Motorcycle Clothing, Motorcycle Helmets and Motorcycle Parts Nice people to deal with. They don't list them on their website, but if you email them, they will answer you.

decibal killers, where can i buy?

I got a pair for my Scorpions from a shop in England....I'll have a look and see if I kept the receipt for the name of the shop when I get home from work today. IIRC, they came to about $90 shipped. They are genuine Scorpion DB killers.

Im scared to take anyone for a ride

Although I regularly rode with a "pillion" passenger during my younger years on my Triumphs and BSA's, I have not yet ridden with a passenger in the 3 years I've been riding (again) on my FZ6. However, the advice that I'd give the OP is that if you're 100% comfortable with riding solo, then...

    Throttle lateral movement

Thanks!! :) Nice to know I didn't screw up and the lateral play is normal. Who knows why I never noticed it before. As an aside, I'm delighted with the difference the FZ6R bars make.....the slightly "straighter" difference between the OEM FZ6 and FZ6R bars is subtle, but quite noticeable when...

    Throttle lateral movement

Thanks Andy......It's just that I never noticed it for the almost 3 years I rode it before I changed the handlebars and grips. Can you actually see the thin black plastic washer between the grip and the switch/throttle housing?

    Throttle lateral movement

I'd never noticed any "lateral" or side-to-side movement in my throttle until after I replaced my handlebars with FZ6R bars. I also installed OEM grips again, the throttle side comes complete with the throttle cam. There is a large diameter, thin plastic washer installed on the throttle...

    having an issue....

My Scorpion emblems were also already on each can when I unboxed them. The emblems are made of a semi-hard plastic material that had to bend around the sides of the cans at the top and bottom of the emblem. They had lifted at the top and bottom while in the box....I just gave up fighting with...

    having an issue....

Both Scorpion emblems started to lift at the upper and lower edges almost immediately after I installed the exhaust. I tried various types of adhesive, but they still kept lifting...the curvature of the sides of the cans were just too much for them, so I eventually took them off. I think they...

    Needing New Handlebars

I installed a set of FZ6R handlebars on my FZ6 today. What a difference. The actual "push forward" of the FZ6R bars is probably no more than an inch and bit, but the feel is completely different. My wrists and hands now fall naturally onto the grips, whereas before my wrists were twisted in...
