Installing a Power Commander III - How Difficult?

Bayside Performance in South Vancouver usually has quite competitive prices on PCIII's...that's where mine came from. http://www.baysideperformance.ca/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1285_2076_537&products_id=2928 You can either download your choice of fuel map to the PCIII on the bike...

    Chain and header cleaning

When cleaning/polishing the headers on the bike, Autosol applied with 000 steel wool works wonders. Polish it off with a good cotton cloth and your headers will gleam.

    Annoying whine

I had the same whine in 3rd gear, but it went away after I installed Shell Rotella T 5w40. Mind you, I also started wearing earplugs around the time of the oil change.:rof: Don't worry about the whine...it's quite normal for an FZ6.

Installed Db killers and changed PC Map.

Well, I bit the bullet today and installed the factory db killers into my Scorpions. I put it off for a month because I just couldn't bring myself to drill the single hole underneath each tailpipe where the securing bolt goes through. The db killers aren't too unsightly, they sit inside the...

    Front sprocket change

I installed a Sunstar 15t front sprocket about a month ago and I'm very please with it. I don't think it's any noisier than the OEM 16t sprocket, and the performance of the bike is FANTASTIC with it installed. Gas mileage suffers a wee bit, but look at the fun I'm having.

    Removed the db-killers yesterday

I got some db killers from England for my Scorpions about a month ago, but was quite disappointed in the effect that they had on the sound. They do not actually quieten the sound, they just change the tone. Difficult to describe, but the sound with the db killers in is more of an aneamic...

    Oh no, another sprocket thread!

With a 15t front sprocket installed, in 6th gear @ 100 kph (62.5 mph) my engine spins at 6000 rpm. That's a bit higher rpm than with the OEM 16t front sprocket. My speedo has been corrected with a Speedohealer and comparitive GPS speeds to confirm accuracy. My stock speedo reading (with 16t...

    Go Pro Camera Test Footage

Slitherin' tar snakes, Batman!! The sound quality is excellent, much better than many others I've watched (heard) where all you hear is the roar of windnoise. Thanks!

    FZ6 to R6 questions?

You betcha!! Install a 15t front sprocket and don't look back. It should be a mandatory first mod on all FZ6's.

    My honda starting issues

It could still be a battery issue. The battery may not be able to deliver the amps required to engage the starter and turn the engine over.

Acumen DGV Gear + Voltage Indicator - INSTALLED!

Re: Acumen DGV Gear + Voltage Indicator Looking forward to your usual high-quality write up and pics. Any thoughts yet as to where you're going to position the unit? I may just spring for one of these units....I was getting pretty good at figuring out which gear I was in until I...

    Torque wrench question

Not arguing.....just humbly offering up my 40+ years experience in the Automotive business, 25 years of which were spinning wrenches.

    Torque wrench question

Anyone who works in the Automotive trades will use Snap-On or Mac Tools almost exclusively. There's several very good reasons for that. ;)

    Torque wrench question

Yes it most certainly does when it comes to precision tools like a torque wrench. I have a Snap-On torque wrench that's 20 years old. I had it calibrated about 5 years ago and only required a minor adjustment. You know that it's accurate OOTB because the expensive torque wrench will come...

    Scorpions on the FZ6

You'll never regret installing a set of Scorpions on an FZ6. The Brits really understand what a high-revving 4 cylinder engine should sound like.

    Yamaha FZ6 Horn Problems

A less expensive alternative to the Stebel is the Fiamm Freeway Blaster (low tone) horn. Easy to install in place of the OEM horn and it's LOUD. (a claimed 132db)

Scorpion sound: open vs db killers

I guess my son put it best: "Why are you trying to change the sound that everyone else is trying to achieve?" It's just as loud with the db killers inserted, but the sound is somewhat aneamic...not pleasant at all.

Scorpion sound: open vs db killers

I finally got around to "installing" the DB killers into my Scorpions yesterday. They are supposed to be secured with a single screw, which means drilling a 3/16" hole in the underside of each tailpipe. However, they are such a good fit that I first pushed them in and then fired up the bike to...
