Yeah, he was the only one involved. At this point, from what we've been able to figure (no other riders were around him when he wrecked), he ran wide in a right-hander. He grazed the rear wheel of an oncoming SUV which sent him off the bike. The two kids in the SUV said all they saw was...
Thanks, Geoff. Yeah, he's in pretty bad shape physically, but mentally he's pretty sharp and loves for us to stop by and see him whenever we can. I'll be heading back to the hospital either tonight or tomorrow night (I live in Lexington where UK is, so it's easy for me to get there).
And...
Guys, one of our former members, Daniel Pennington (fz6joker - Yamaha FZ6 Forums - International FZ6 Motorcycle Community Forum - View Profile: fz6joker), had a very bad crash on Saturday here in Kentucky. I wasn't on the ride but have ridden with Daniel many times and was even supposed to room...
OP, sorry to hear about this, but you made it out pretty well. Of course, my perspective is skewed since my buddy lowsided off the hill in May and spent a month at UT trying to get his memory back!
I'm making my 4th trip down in about 3 weeks. Can't wait!!! It's only about 4-4.5 hours from...
RANDALL F'N COBB, BABY!!! I told you the Pack picked up a steal when they took him!!! Representin' Kentucky Football! I thought you knew!
Seriously, though, the missus and I have about torn up the house tonight watching the Pack play. When Cobb caught his first TD, we were so...
Don't pay attention to the website. ANY Corbin Gunfighter seat will fit ANY model year of FZ6. It's tried and tested. You may have to shim the latch on the seat with a washer or two on the newer model bikes with the older seats, but they work perfectly.
Good luck with the sale, OP!
Glad to hear they showed up. Where did you get your speedo cover??? I've looked for one FOREVER, but could only find one place in the UK that had them and I just never got around to ordering it. I'd love to clean up the back of my naked '06 speedo with the cover.
Alright, I think I see your problem. I think you're missing the wiring harness. You've got two plugs coming out of the bike (through the hole in the frame on the left side) and two plugs coming off the back of the speedo. But in between those is a long harness that has your turn signal wires...
OP, the speedometers are EXACTLY the same from '04 through '06. If you could post a close up picture of the front of the bike (as that shot with the tiny red circle is useless for these purposes), it would be much more helpful.
These are the schematics for both the '05 FZ6 speedometer (they...
Dangit! huxy beat me to it!
:welcome: Fireater! I might be able to answer a couple of these.
For the dual headlight mod, search the forum for "bd43". When I did mine, well before bd43 put his out, it was a hack job and not nearly as clean. You should be able to find everything you need...
That's the problem...I don't know anyone with a truck with a hitch...lol. Odd to be from Kentucky and NOT know someone, but I don't.
If I knew someone with a truck that had a bed long enough, I'd just pack the bike in the back of the truck. But, alas, everyone I'm close to either has a...
Thanks, man. Yeah, it's in great condition. I got the really good deal because my friend was the one selling it (he was moving and didn't need it where he was going) and because, well...I'm his friend...lol. My other buddy at work has already re-wired the entire thing, so it's almost like...
I had the exact same experience with the 020. Of course, I got 10k miles out of those tires, so I really wasn't complaining...lol.
I've got 3-4k on the 023's now and not a hint of cupping. But, admittedly, I'm much more conscious of my pressures now than I was the first year I had the bike...
Excellent info, guys. Especially CanadianFZ6 (of course, what you're saying is music to my ears...lol).
As far as what I'll be taking...It would just be the bike, my gear (2 sets), and me. I won't have any passengers and I intend to make sure the trunk is completely empty (I figure...
I recently purchased a small trailer from a friend of mine. I literally have put the proverbial "cart before the horse", though, since the only car I own currently doesn't have a hitch. This is easily rectified, of course, but I need some advice about pulling this trailer with my...
I'm not sure if anyone has answered this and I've seen a couple of people ask. You can order the FZ1 bars from your Yamaha dealer for about $40 (I think mine were ~$38 after tax). IIRC, I got '06 FZ1 bars. It usually takes a few days to a week to get them in.
Humpy, if you like that one, you should see Sweet Home Alabama or, my personal favorite...Cruel Intentions (although, admittedly, there is a LOT of eye-candy in that movie!)
Reese is one of my favorites, for sure.
I had this setup for a while (when I was doing more commuting than sport riding) and it was great. If you're gonna be doing more touring or commuting riding and want to be more upright than leaned over the tank, this is the way to go. On the other hand, I tend to strictly sport ride now, so...
My favorite is the redneck (no gear, of course), riding a wheelie on the median and then trying to come off the curb while still pulling the wheelie and hitting the guardrail. What a MASSIVE fail!
