    Reasons for Wearing Gear

It seems that's the one biggest gripe (if you want to call it that)...the Kevlar material being slick/slippery. Like you said, though, that's a pretty easy fix. There are two areas of concern for me personally. First, the lack of armor on the exterior of the wrist area. Honestly, I only...

    Reasons for Wearing Gear

I started a thread a few days ago about me ordering some Motoport gear, and I can't wait to get it in! I went with the GP-2 jacket and pants, with a few options that were suggested thrown in. Total cost will be right around $1100, but for a set of gear that will replace all my other gear, it's...

    FZ1N Headlight Kit

It does. There are a bunch of people that have put the FZ1N headlight on the 6, but I don't think anyone has ever done an actual installation thread. Because of that, I'm not sure what modifications are needed or how the mounting bracket actually mounts to the upper and lower triples. But...

Can I park here? CA Motorcycle laws

Without having seen a picture of the front of the garage, I would think it would be easier to ask the roommate to either park a few feet back from the garage or move over just a little bit in order for you to have room to get in and out. Since I've had my FZ6 (5 years), I've lived in an...

    Taking the plunge...ordering Motoport gear!

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions, guys! I really appreciate it. Kenny, I've talked to Wayne once already and I figured I'd ask for him tomorrow when I call in the final measurements. He really is a nice guy on the phone and seems to have gotten a bad rap by a few customers that were...

    Taking the plunge...ordering Motoport gear!

After reading every review and looking at every picture I could get my hands on over the last few weeks, tomorrow is D-Day! Last Tuesday, I called Motoport and put down my deposit to get in the queue for my suit, and I couldn't be more excited! Tomorrow, I call in my final measurements and...

Really? Again? Barely over a month?

OP, I'm glad to hear you're alright! This is my nightmare scenario on the bike...the car turning left in front of me, because you literally have nowhere to go. And good on the witness for stopping and backing you up! I had a similar thing happen a few years ago while I was in my car. I'm...

New FZ6 Owner - General Fairing Question

:welcome: OP! Puig makes a great windscreen for the FZ6, so you're making a good choice there. Honestly, though, it's all about personal preference (light vs. dark smoke). When I had a fairing, I preferred the look of the dark smoke over any others (I just though it looked cool). What...

    Help Choosing Givi Side Bags

I've got a full Givi setup. E21 sidecases and E45 topcase. I typically just use the topcase, unless I'm doing a longer ride and need the room.

    First naked highway ride.

The first rule of riding a naked bike...the higher the speed, the lower you get on the tank. This makes you more aerodynamic and you won't feel like you're getting pulled off the back of the bike. I rode my FZ6 for 3 seasons before converting, and I can remember those first few rides...

    Uncomfortable seat

That's not heavy at all. I'm talking MY size...6' 235 lbs. For me, the Corbin works perfectly, but with everything comfort-related, YMMV.

    Uncomfortable seat

Here's the GENERAL rule-of-thumb (gleaned from years around this forum)...and I've got a Corbin (and had a Yamaha Comfort Seat for a while)... If you're a heavier rider, the Corbin is the way to go. It's very firm, and that seems to work well for bigger guys (like me). The TS seat, on the...

Just took a BUZZARD BIRD to the helmet at 60 mph!

Damn...that's one huge mother f'n bird!!! We get those things around here in droves too and I've had a couple of decently close calls, but nothing that was anything near this. Glad to hear your head is feeling better and you seem to have come out ok. That's one scary situation! One thing...

    Dominator headlights

It's important for me to note that my stock signals were actually mounted to the arms of the fork brackets, not the Buell bracket. You'd have figured that out eventually just by looking at yours, but I thought I'd give you a heads-up.

    Dominator headlights

Erci, can you give me an idea of how you mounted your horn in that location? Did you use the little short, black bracket that's originally mounted on the horn or did you fab something else up? Also, from looking at mine, it seems I may have to extend the horn wiring a little to make that...

    Speedometer Bracket Group Interest.

Lean, I'm still down for one of the S1 ('04-'06) brackets. I just wanted to make sure you knew that since I mentioned it months ago but never got back to this thread to see how those were progressing.

Not an Fz1, Not an R1200c, but I am happy with my decision

Damn Canadian...am I happy YOU said it so I didn't have to! Seriously, though Geoff. If you're happy with it, that's all that matters. As one who came TO the FZ6 FROM a V-Star, I did just the opposite and could NEVER go back. So what's the over/under on how long it'll be...

    Conversion finished....mostly

Looks awesome! I've got the VS-02 kit that I just installed a few weeks ago, but the more I see the VS-01, I kinda wish I'd gone with it instead. :( I like how the sides of the headlight don't overlap the forks. It took me forever to come up with spacers that would keep the side covers on...

Got me a mighty fine iPhone!

Congrats dxh24! I originally had the 3GS and then upgraded to the 4S on launch day in October. I'm absolutely addicted to it...lol. I had my 3GS jailbroken, so going back to stock for a while waiting on the jailbreak for the 4S was hard. To tide me over, I picked up the Samsung Galaxy SII...
