The KTM Duke is growing on me

I've always been intrigued by the performance but never liked the styling queues of the KTM naked bikes. For the last couple years I've been pondering my next bike, and since I've decided to keep the FZ6 for the rest of its life, whatever I get will be an addition rather than a replacement. I...

    swingarm pivot bolt service

Somebody here will be able to tell you exactly how to do it, but I would shy away from the center stand alone since by design it allows the bike to rock fore and aft. You probably should invest in or devise a lift. Something as simple as a set of jack stands under the foot pegs could work.

    Paint

we discussed single stage to keep the cost down a bit, but I may opt for a base & clear. I'm on the schedule for next month, I probably need to make a decision in the next week or so.

    Paint

Here's the fender after the first pass with 600. I sanded wet to keep the dust down, photo was taken after rinsing and drying. I left the missed areas to show the difference in sanded vs. unsanded. The damaged area had touchup paint. If I close my eyes and run my finger of that area, it...

    Need help identifying a part

I don't think I've ever seen a sprocket so worn. I can't believe it would even propel the bike forward in that condition.

    Paint

well, after looking at all the options and weight cost I've decided on a much more budget option. I found an autobody shop who will do the dent repair and paint work for just over $600 for a basic paint and clear. I've already done the disassembly and I agreed to do the sanding prior to...

Do you ride solo or in groups?

I ride alone. I have very few friends IRL and haven't seen them since this crap began. None of them ride. I used to be very much into bicycle racing; road, mountain, cyclocross. All of it. That is very demanding sport (physically, mentally, financially) if you pursue it as I did. I was...

recommendations and advice for shortening wiring

I'm leaning away from shortening now, and toward making everything as tidy as possible with minimal cutting. We'll see what I come up with.

recommendations and advice for shortening wiring

Interesting. I've got the tank off for painting, maybe I'll experiment with some other places to put the wiring. I've considered a lithium ion battery, I'll look into a LiFeP04 as well... this is the first I'm hearing of it.

recommendations and advice for shortening wiring

I removed my fairing, leaving behind a lot of unnecessary length in the wiring up front. I've got it stowed pretty successfully in a boot made from an old inner tube, but I'm considering shortening it in conjunction with some other wiring projects (regaining hi/lo beams and running lights) If...

2006 Yamaha FZ6 Street fighter mod

That dent repair is looking good. I hope mine turns out like that. Most of the FZ6 tanks on eBay have the same dent.

2006 Yamaha FZ6 Street fighter mod

I have a similar headlight and Puig fly screen on my S2, but I mounted the headlight much higher on the stanchions. Have you wired your headlight for hi/low functionality? I have not done that yet, and will be attempting to tackle that over the winter. I have the very same dent in my tank...

    Future owner of a 2005 FZ6 (maybe)

Mine either. I love an inline 4. I never had motorcycles when I was a teenager, but I really wanted one. Hearing a GSX-R or an FZR screaming down the highway on a summer night was so exciting. I think I'll always love that sound.

    Future owner of a 2005 FZ6 (maybe)

Someone on a local forum had a pristine '09 with 20K on it that he ended up dropping down to $2200 last year. I think he just kept it in his garage. 600cc inline fours are out, twins and triples are in!

    Future owner of a 2005 FZ6 (maybe)

I'd really shoot for $750. But I'm kind of obsessive and I know I'd put $2000 into it. You can often find a nice clean one for that price. I'll have twice what my FZ is worth into it, but I'm still money ahead compared to replacing it with something comparable. As long as you don't plan to...

    Paint

Yes, black frame. Modern Classic is a thing these days, but I've always preferred that style. Round headlight, exposed engine, minimal plastics. I like other styles as well, but I always come back to that basic UJM/Brit bike look. Unless it's a Ducati 916.

    Paint

That looks cool. I've always liked that graphic. I am thinking about having the fender, tail pieces, and possibly the hugger sprayed black (or Raven according to Yamaha) and doing the tank in this green which may be called "Forest Green". I probably wouldn't do the stripes, and would use the...

    Paint

Those bikes look fantastic. I would love to attempt the work myself, but for now I don't have anything close to the proper workspace and I want it done during the off season when I'm not riding. I am sure it would look great; I was hoping to find a bargain priced paint job similar to what one...

    Paint

I'm thinking about having my bike painted. The first quote I got was 1200-1300 which includes repairing a couple small dents. Around 1000 for labor, and 200-300 for paint. I would remove the parts and deliver or ship them. I removed an sold the fairing, so it's just tank, front fender, and...
