Thanks! Took a closer look at it today and noticed 2 things: 1- the pins sit at slightly different lengths, and one of the x rings seems to be protruding a bit. It keeps bugging me so I'll just replace that master link, just to get it out of my mind. It's only around 4 USD anyway...
