Ride report to Death Valley, well almost

Sorry that your spring break didn't turn out as well as you hoped, but it still was a very entertaining trip report. LOL... on GM conveniently not around whenever Rich needed a push start.

    Former coworker killed this morning

Sorry that you have to experience something like this. Must really hit close to home on this one for you Botch. Riding a motorcycle has it's risk, but it's up to you do reduce that risk. Taking a refresher course might help ease your mind and improve your confidence. I have taken a personal...

First Accident... 6 months after picking it up

Glad to hear that you are okay, thanks to wearing ATGATT. I cannot stress the importance of safety gear, regardless if you're a new or seasoned rider. Please remind yourself that vehicles will often fail to yield your right of way simply because they don't see you. This is a very common...

According to the Nat'l Weather Service, Mt. Rose Ski Resort which is approximately just 20 miles west of Reno currently has the highest recorded snowfall for North America, something like over 700 inches and counting. Just past the ski slopes at the top of the Mt. Rose Summit. Lake...

    PR4s after 20400 km

So far I'm loving my PR4'S on my Multistrada. They seem to do well when I'm out conducting my Motogymkhana sessions and have performed well out on the twisties too. Have yet to experience any hydroplaning riding in the rain. Hope to get at least 15k miles on these tires.

    Snow pics from Donner Pass

We don't use salt in this part of the country, they say it ruins our fresh water. However, they do use chemicals, some deicer along with gravel. Yes, it was very foggy, I thought it would clear up once I got up towards the top but it never did. The Duc is definitely due for a wash but it...

Built a flashing brake light, would like suggestions

Yup, my OEM brake/tail light burned out long time ago, but haven't even taken the time to get it working. Like Scott said, the Hyper Lites are much brighter and much more effective, and you have two. One on each side of the bike. Mine acts as running and modulating brake lights. Amazing that...

Built a flashing brake light, would like suggestions

In my opinion, you are better off having your lights flash initially for more than 1 second, that's the most important time to get everyone's attention. After that, I think it should just remain solid, there is no need for it to flash again. And if you wanted to, all you would have to do is...

Impressive huh! This is around 7500 feet up in the Sierra's Mountain Range in California. About 40 miles from Reno.

    Riding assist for Vegas-Rider

LOL..Scott, honestly, the first time I came across this bike, the first thing that popped into my mind was how it would work in the snow.

Dumb question: does my 2011 FZ6 S2 have ABS?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as a 2011 FZ6. Last production year was 09. However there have been many variants of the FZ6 since then, FZ6- R, FZ-8 and so on.

    Clutch Fluid Don't Look Right

Bike is fixed, Fluid was dark, no replacement of parts needed. Just flush, purge and bleed new fluids. Engagement zone is where it should and it appears it's shifting a lot better, on the smoother side. Hey I can find neutral!

Riding in the cold - approaches

I agree, I think it increases your time reaching for the controls in the event of an emergency, no matter how use you get to having them. So the point here is to make sure you don't ever get into those situations. Increasing your following distance and reducing your speed pays off big time...

Riding in the cold - approaches

What kind of muffs did you get? I can tell you that they work very well with heated gloves. It really cuts out all of the windchill, but it will take a while to get use to using the throttle and controls. You can't use very bulky gloves if you use your mittens.
