It could be but what you need to know you can't test for. High voltage arc over. It is the coil or wires that literally pass your spark energy to ground instead of the spark plug tip. Did you ever inspect the run stop switch? At this point swap power wires and see if the error follows the coil.

You could replace the gasket but cleaning and good FIPG from Toyota, GM, or Yamaha is needed for the CPS rubber plug. An impact wrench spins it off effortlessly. FWIW it is a conventional RH thread IIRC.

Just an idea, about you might look for some open source code from some of the mobile apps for Vehicles like Torque Pro, OBD Fusion etc. The if you build said hardware, you could use your vehicle and an OTS app and with an added O2 sensor and dial it in. Just a thought.....

The CPS signal is like one stop shopping so yes, that is correct it also alters the fuel timing but in a good way. That said with batch injection, it's moot point as intake has a charge in it already. So ya with waste spark (2 plugs fired for every combustion srtoke) and the group fired...

Currently the additional cost of 92 octane fuel ups is less than a buck so this mod is completely worth it IMO. The additional tone the exhausts makes won't be a disappointment either! Let me see if I can't get a new audio clip....

Granted the seat isn't the best but take note if vibrations are the cause or the seat. Vibrations can make the bike unrideable. The good news is there is a fix for it....
