Best thing for restoring black on engine casing, frame, and plastics?

Thanks Scott. I've thought about the headers. When I had them off I wire brushed them to be a uniform dull, better than just dirty. I could have polished then pretty easily, but I'm still not sold on the Chrome look....even though it's actually SS. I've never been into "shiny" unless it's...

Final Impact Winter project; playing w/trigger

Thanks for that, and I will keep reading. That makes perfect sense to me. Yeah, with electronics, it's pretty neat what you can do as far as sensors when your only limitations on events being monitored is that they be slightly farther apart from one another than it would take light to travel...

Final Impact Winter project; playing w/trigger

Did you read that last one, Randy, about the CO adjustments? It's probably nothing, but I don't want to forget about it ha ha. Alright so now that the current set of work is done, I want to explore the timing a little more. I'm going to start doing some research, see what I can find out about...

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

Thanks Randy, I appreciate that. And yeah, this PCFC that I have right now is a bit of a joke, and I know that. Keeps me from getting too lean, so it's doing A JOB, but certainly these cheaper fuel controllers don't do any jobs that real tuning can do. Sad part is that it can hold up to 10...

Best thing for restoring black on engine casing, frame, and plastics?

Thanks much Scott. I really do appreciate the "extra mile" and all the info. And your "Fisher" looks beautiful. I have Family down in FLA, and have spent some time on similar canals. Like every other place, plus's and minuses, but I do love the days down there with the sun, thunderstorm...

Best thing for restoring black on engine casing, frame, and plastics?

Vettrick, thanks much, I'll check out 303. Wow, Scott. I live 3 miles from the Pacific. Things that stay inside of my garage (the unprotected things) don't look that good. That is impressive to say the least. I checked it out and see that it is a lubricant, as well. I will certainly give...

Final Impact Winter project; playing w/trigger

Randy, Don't I remember you saying before, in this thread, that you couldn't start your bike while in "CO2 Adjust" mode? I was just playing with mine today, and realized I could start it while in CO2 mode. The way I remember it, you could go into CO2 mode, adjust, and then go back to...

Thanks much Scott :-) Yeah, I thought so too, a tiny bit thinner, nut then again the physical size is about half as wide ;-) Loren

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

For some reason (because I have no idea how to use soundcloud???) the links work fine, but when you play the first one it shows the 35 second file stopping, but the audio keeps going into the second recording? Since that second one, the ride home, is 5 min long, you can just close the window...

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

Ok. I checked out soundcloud and added 2 files. First is real short, the pipes when I was first fitting, with the extension pipes still on. Second is starting up and leaving school to come home, today. Second one I did a bunch of editing. It's pretty much slow down to a stop sign...

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

I wasn't sure when I first read the reply, if you were being sarcastic, not that you would do that  Ha ha. Yes, I am very happy, indeed. Turned down the offer for the 2Bros exhaust. This thing sounds great! Then I thought the other comment was funny as well. When I was riding...

Best thing for restoring black on engine casing, frame, and plastics?

What does everyone else out there use with good success? Looking to shine up the bike. I've tried the peanut oil trick on the plastics, and it works well, but doesn't last. I've never found much for the powder coating on the engine and frame. Anyone else have luck with any products...

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

Damnit!!! I had a great recording coming home tonight from the town over. I never use the voice recorder on phone so when I went to crop the 23 seconds of putting phone in pocket....10 mins gone with the wind so to speak. Bummer. But, like I said before, I do have the recording of when I...

2 coats, 2 thick coats black 500 degree high heat flat, 1 coat 1200 degree clear. Now they look like proper cans

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

Oh, the bedliner...Had to read back through and see where I mentioned it....i am using header paint on the mufflers. Black and clear header paint. The bedliner I mention in the last pic, that's just for the license plate holder/tial tidy hanger. I agree. Bedliner for the mufflers would...

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

Now we're almost there. Bottom bracket on, centered and perpendicular to bike. Phew. Oh what's that, a tail tidy design I was fiddling around with. I like that the way it is made, it can be hooked up to ONLY the bottom bracket of muffler and still not move. That's what those welded box...

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

Ok back... I think that this will work. Looks like the Y's that I see pictures of. Remember, I have never done this before. I figure as long as I don't give up something is bound to come together :-). The angle was too big on the secondary can, so I added another piece to it to space them...

    I got the Y-pipe alright...Exhaust build thread..

So, didn't want to just put this in that other thread. That was "where can I find a Y pipe, heres some ideas, etc". This is more like "One mans way to build high performance cans for 50$ and 2 full night's time". So the project goes like this. Originally I gutted my exhaust can (stock)...
