Question s1 rear shock what to buy

I put the STX46 on a few years ago and I think it's terrific. I got a great deal on it when I purchased it. To Gary's point, I am not convinced that I would spend a whole lot of money for a replacement today. For example, my FJR1300 has a leaking rear shock and I replaced it with a YSS for a...

Bad plug cap, does bike run on 3 cylinders or 2 ?

Guessing here, but if 1 of the 2 caps connected to a coil is not connected well, it will not effect the OTHER cap on the same plug. For example, it the #1 cap is bad on the coil that fires #1 and #4, the #4 cap will still fire fine.

    Catastrophic engine damage/noise?

Ouch. That sure does look like bearing material in the oil. I believe that, sadly, you found the problem.

    Handlebar upgrade

...what kind of handle bar is on the bike. Like my other reply to your other post, mass at the handlebars helps reduce the buzz. As stated in post #4. you DON'T WANT aluminum bars on this bike.

    Buzzing prominent on right side

Another help in taming the buzz is heavy bar ends, which really help to dampen the vibrations in the handle bar. I use these https://www.hvmp.com/Yamaha-s/4.htm, but I am sure there are many others.

I'd say there is enough concern to replace the chain and guides. Good luck.

    (2006 FZ6) Misfiring/Running on Only 2 Cylinders

Excellent. The FZ6 has a few weak points that always seem to crop up. The spark plug boots are definitely one of them. One of our form members, FinalImpact, did an extensive study here. https://www.600riders.com/threads/vibration-a-cure-for-bad-vibrations-spark-plug-caps.48874/post-654362...

    Winter 2025/2026 Project

Wow. How I wish I had the time and environment to do work like this. Then all I would need would be the talent. Someone once said that "...two out of three aint bad." :-)

    S/E WI work

I could help, but the shipping costs to NJ would likely be prohibitive :-) Seriously, the job is not much more difficult than a valve adjustment which, if you're due, should be done at the same time. I did this exact job on my 05 many years ago, and the biggest pain was timing the motor...

Need Help Pressing the starter button cuts all electricity. Won’t start.

Thanks Scott. I missed being here. I'm still in Northern NJ, putting my retirement plan together. Lots of places on the relocation list..... Florida included.

I have shared 2 of my favorite spreadsheets for maintenance. Take a look at the 'RR and Stator Test'. Follow the instructions to test both the RR and the stator and quickly determine if and where the problem lies.... My favorite maintenance guides
