It is your alarm. If it is going to sit more than 48 hours, you need to unplug the alarm. I've seen it many times. Best solution: Toggle switch on alarm's +12v, hidden somewhere out of sight. That way, you can use the alarm at the mall and disarm it in the garage.

I use a shad SH-29 scooter case for daily runnings and throw on some nelson riggs saddle bags when I need extra space. The case holds my helmet and gloves just fine when parked, holds by book bag going to school and can tote a fair amount of groceries.

I had my SV frame powder coated and it was only $150, which included TONS of masking/attention to detail to avoid boogering races. You would be suprised at how cheaply you could get them powder/ceramic coated. Paint will ultimately need to be redone.
