    One hand, one leg kneedown!

I scrape the peg (and boot) while hanging off the bike. I don't think my body position is too bad, guess I'll have to film it some time. My rear shock is set to 5, and my body weight is 90 kg (198 lbs). Add the gear, and I guess I'm closer to 100 kg. Should I set the rear shock to 6 or 7?

    One hand, one leg kneedown!

Quick question: When you get your knee down, is the peg on the footrest scraping the tarmac as well? Just wondering how far I'll have to lean over to get the knee down. I've scraped the peg several times, but never got my knee down to touch the tarmac.

    Valve clearance check

Dumb question: do you have to drain the oil before doing the valve clearance check?

Would you just use regular soap based lithium grease on it after removing the rust?

Rust on fuel cap - what to do?

My fuel cap seems to have got some beginning rust: It kind of looks worse than it is on the pictures. I'm not even sure if it's rust. What to do? Help!

    Which coolant?

I want to change my coolant, and I'm wondering what to use. Mobil Antifreeze Advanced is available locally, and it looks good. It is a nitrite-, amine-, phosphate-, silicate- and borate- free antifreeze based on ethylene glycol. But it contains something called Glysantin® G30® by BASF. It...

    How old is your battery?

I still have the original battery, which will be six years old in June. I have heated grips installed, but nothing else that drains the battery. The bike is stored indoors during the winter.

    Accurate Chain Adjustment ?

I have used the string method too. Doesn't take long to do, and gets things lined up. I have a tool similar to the Motionpro one, but even after using that, the string alignment indicated that the wheels weren't properly aligned. The Motionpro tool is better than nothing, but it's better to just...

Clutch Adjustment (Grab at the end of the lever)

Thanks, that's what I thought! I was just afraid I had adjusted it way too tight. Would suck to have to remove the airbox to access the adjustment nut again.

Clutch Adjustment (Grab at the end of the lever)

Thanks! I think I have it adjusted correctly. I replaced the cable a few days ago, so it's good. The point I am trying to make is that even with a properly adjusted clutch handle, the engine clutch slave lever will not fully extended. When you remove the clutch cable, you can notice that...

Clutch Adjustment (Grab at the end of the lever)

Resurrecting an old thread here, but: The way I understand it, the manual suggests 10-15 mm free play at the clutch handle. On my bike that means that even if the clutch handle is at its most extended position, the slave lever is not fully extended. But the clutch handle has 10-15 mm free...

    Overhauling brake calipers

Autosol is just a mild polishing compound. It's effective for removing dirt and corrosion. The guy in the vids tosh23 link to uses it. I used the lube supplied by Yamaha on the pistons before inserting them back into the calipers. The calipers were cleaned with brake fluid. The rotors don...

    Overhauling brake calipers

Finally got around to do this job. Still winter here in Norway, so there's no need to hurry. Used the whole Sunday to get it done. The left caliper turned out to be an easy job, just pumped the pistons out with hydraulic pressure after removing the brake pads. Afterwards I could...
