Smartest move Yamaha could of made. They are going to sell a ton of them. Name one other bike with that good of looks (full fairing) , similar seating position, and similar performance with an I4 engine in that price range. There isnt one in the US that comes to mind. Sure I wouldnt buy...

I second saving the money and not buying the yamaha gel seat. I have it and was disapointed with it. Did not make a big difference in feel or wanting to ride longer. I do like the looks of it better though. FZ6inNH sums it up pretty well.

Should be very soon. I was checking the yamaha website last night and they had their 2009 pages up for the FZ1 but with no pictures and several broken links. I checked it again right now hoping to see an update to find that they have taken it back down and now the 2008 page shows up.

3500 Miles on Pilot Road 2's and they still look new. The stock bridgestones looked really worn after there first 3500 miles and bald at 5300 miles. By the looks of things the Pilot Road 2's will last me around 8000-10000 miles. I probably wont wear them out before selling the bike to upgrade.

I still want to upgrade bikes. (07 FZ6 bought new has 9000 miles now.) Really like the 08 CBR1000RR but am having trouble justifying the cost, so I might go with the FZ1. Do the 09 yamaha's come out in the begginging of the month of October or the end? Anyone know? Prob going to go with a FZ1...

Well I went with the pilot road 2's. Happy I did so far. Changed from the stock bald dunlop's at 5369 miles. I now have about 6800+ miles on the bike. The new tires have only seen the 1500 freeway miles on them so far. I'm hoping to get into the mountains soon now that its warming up here...
