I think it's residue from the Motul oil I used. I had the dealer check my brakes less than a month ago and they're fine. I lube my chain at least once a month after cleaning it with WD40 (actually used kerosone the month before). I also wash the bike often.
I live in Brooklyn, NY. There is always construction, but not much clay or any other consistant soil for me to ride through. In addition, I ride with three other FZ's and none of them have this issue here in NYC.
I have actually cleaned it off several times. This has been occuring for about 3 months and I wash my bike weekly. It's only on one side of the bike, feels like a very fine powder and smuggs when wiped.

I have tried 4 different riding boots and the best have been the Women's Harley Davidson D84353 RADIATE Boots. These boots are so soft that I can walk around all day in them without feelings as though my feet are encased in cement.
